Revolution for sure
I'll defiantly be looking forward to the revolution.
The PS2-XBox-GameCube generation has been to most disappointing to date. They didn't offer anything new gameplay wise (although I'm not saying they were total flops, as some of my favourite games were Soul Calibur 2, Smash Bros Melle, and Burnout 2/Revenge). I mean I remember buying 27 games for my N64 (and I didn't even have a job at that time), because the system gave nearly every game something new that hadn’t been done. Now I earn heaps of money with no bills to pay, and I've only bought 8 games for gamecube, and 3 for x-box (7 which I enjoyed) because there is nothing out there.
I actually almost favour the fact that the Revolution has lower specs than the 360 and PS3 - It will encourage developers to focus on gameplay rather then wasting time on eye candy and overly large scaled levels (like San-andreas, I mean it's boring as hell just diving from one side of the map and back again).
The new revolution controller will allow developers to come up with new ideas. If you get off on great graphics and lame gameplay (cough...Doom3), that's fine. But I honestly don't think anybody who dislikes the Revolution have actually thought of the controller's possibilities. I mean:
- Fighting games/Platformer RPGs - more then just button mashing. The controller becomes your character's weapon.
- Sports games - your controller becomes the baseball bat, tennis racquet, basketball, javelin, ect.
- Ol skool platformers - can be played with one hand. Great when you're tired and all you want to do is relax.
- First-Person shooters/Light gun games - merged into one (although I don't know why they didn't this earlier). It's surly more fun then a mouse or control stick to aim. Also remember, the revolution knows the exact angle of the controller, so shooting distant enemies will actually be an actual challenge (haha, your big screen TVs won't save you now). Could you imagin if HL-2 was released for Revolution - think of the blue gravity gun!
- And sooo much more - I'm just getting tired, and realized how stupidly biased this message is getting. But I just don't see what the other consoles are providing...yeah, the PS3 and 360 will be good...you can PAY for X-Box live...and they act as a media centre! Oooo!!!
*sarcasm*
Nintendo are the only ones who get it.
High processing power no longer equals better gameplay. I'll probably end up getting a 360 or PS3 (if a good game is released for them that doesn't make it to PC), but not both because they are the damn same!
