I do use acoustic treatments. I built an Ethan Winer panel trap on the rear wall, and have DIY fabric-wrapped semi-rigid fiberglass acoustic panels. I also built the second row riser as a sort of acoustic trap. Velvet curtains are placed in the front half, creating a sort of acoustic trap because of the large air gap between them at the walls.

I just need more acoustic treatments, rather than something particularly different. Something that is even more dense would be great, allowing me to do so without increasing the thickness.

No I don't use room treatments. I would if an expert would evaluate my room and give me a demo so I can see/hear pre and post set-up results. If the product made dramatic improvement, I would certainly entertain making the purchase.

I have to say that I need more acoustic treatments, but they sure make a huge difference.... I have some Auralex Acoustics Sonosuede because they are great looking panels. I also have some ATS Acoustics panels, which were priced very competitively and built very well.

My main goals for acoustic treatment are obviously sound quality, but the second most important goal is looks, even though I am a single male, I don't want just ugly tasteless bland blocks of panels on my walls...

Artistic looking panels are and will always be top priority to me, and my future purchases will be based on both performance as well as looks...

I currently have some DIY corner traps and while they are functional, they sure are ugly!

Probably the #1 improvement I could see is aesthetics. I'm surprised that there are not more options here from current vendors (other than the rather pricey custom prints).

I currently don' use acoustic treatments since my home theater is integrated into our family room which is completely open to the kitchen/dining/living areas (WAF). The one thing I have been considering is some corner traps.

Acoustic Room Treatments

I do not use acoustic room treatments in my home theater, beyond using Auralex Acoustics MoPAD monitor isolation pads for my center and surround channel speakers. However, I have been interested in a subwoofer isolation riser (something I would seriously consider for an Elemental Designs A7-700 upgrade, given its power!). I would consider acoustic room treatments, given the important role of room acoustics, if they were inexpensive (which they are not in my limited budget). In this economy, acoustic room treatments need to come down in price to become more than an agreeable afterthought, after all of one’s equipment components have been purchased. As they are currently priced, acoustic room treatments seem destined to remain a nice but uncommon finishing touch in only the most carefully planned-out high-end home theaters/listening rooms.

room treatments

Currently I don't use any products for room treatment. However when I do get the opportunity to really listen. i might move some furniture and plants around that can improve my listening environment.

I use 3 GIK Monster traps. One is in a corner and the other two are behind my front left and right speakers. I don't know if further improvements will help. I'm struggling with getting a sound card to work so I can measure with REW. If I do find peaks or nulls that need taming, I'll decide between DIY and purchased products then.

I have an attic full of acoustic foam panels that I got from the in-laws theater room. Problem is, it is still there because I'm not quite sure how to apply it to my decor.

They had a dedicated theater, as to where I just have a living room with surround sound (hopefully a new subwoofer in the near future). I had a friend paint some pieces and frame them, but that didn't work too well.

Do I use acoustic room treatments

I do not use acoustic treatments. However I do have shades and rugs on my tile floor and I have a high ceiling in my home theater room where the sound is great. It gives it a full rich open sound. If I add any more sound absorbing treatments, I feel that the richness and depth of my sound will diminish.

No, I don't currently use room treatments. Right now I have a starter house with the home theater set up in the living room. When I move to a new house I will have a dedicated theater room and do plan on doing room treatments. I can't say anything at all that I would like to see change with room treatments since who cares when the lights go out anyways.

No, I don't currently use room treatments. There is nothing in particular that I am waiting for in treatments that is preventing me from buying, I just don't own the house I live in, and would not want to buy something for a house I'm moving out of.

Contest Question: Do you currently use acoustic room treatments in your home theater? If yes, what do you use and what would you like to see improved over you current acoustic treatments? If no, is there something in particular that you are looking for in a product that would make you choose to move forward with acoustic room treatments?
Yes I use acoustic foams (wedges). I'd like to expand the treatment coverage area but can't because my Home Theater is in a living room and my wife won't allow me to put up more than just a few in the corners :(.

I have fabric and foam in/on the walls to help with acoustics.

My room won't really take any of the fancy stuff, since it's limited in space.

Contest Question: Do you currently use acoustic room treatments in your home theater? Yes.

If yes, what do you use and what would you like to see improved over you current acoustic treatments?

I use thermal lined black out curtains and Owen Corning 703 fiberglass panels under the entire floor. I would like to add more treatments to the rrom but since my home theater shares a space of our living room, adding anything visible would be hard to introduce.

If no, is there something in particular that you are looking for in a product that would make you choose to move forward with acoustic room treatments?

I would look for a product that provided a room analysis service to target problem frequencies, like a Helmholtz design, instead of blindly adding treatments.

I currently have no room treatments. I don't plan to go that route until I move into a new house with room for a dedicated theater,

I like the Idea of customizing the print on the panels, perhaps classic movie posters or various types of art, combined with regular solid color panels could work well in various rooms. That is what I would want when the time comes for me to take the plunge.

Contest Question: Do you currently use acoustic room treatments in your home theater? YES

If yes, what do you use and what would you like to see improved over you current acoustic treatments? Use custom built corner bass traps using cornings 705. Use custom built wall panels using Linacoustic. I like to use products from stores because they may provide a better look. However, buying premade acoustic room treatments is just too expensive.

Not yet. Waiting to finalize the rest of the room before deciding what treatment are needed.

If no, is there something in particular that you are looking for in a product that would make you choose to move forward with acoustic room treatments?
Less expensive pre made options would be nice as I presently plan on going DIY.

I do not have treatments up yet. I have the fabric to build them. I just need to find a reasonable source for the 705 insulation. I am building my own due to the fact that everyone (to me) seems to be overpriced for what you get.

I do not use any treatments. I do not know much about them so I do not know what I would be looking for.
