I don't have acoustic treatments, mainly because the voices in my head tell me that room treatments would bombard my brain with additional gamma waves, causing me to hulk out Bruce Banner style if I hear a tone below 20Hz.

The product I am looking for is a nice big house with a huge basement to install a face-smashing bad-@$$ theater in that can play so loud it will make those damn voices in my head mute by comparison. :D

No - I don't currently have any room treatments. If I did get room treatments they would have to be inexpensive, easy to install, and provide noticeably better sound in the room.

No, I do not use acoustic treatment with my stereo.

Not really much that would inspire me to use them - they're expensive and while some claim these huge differences I can't imagine it helping in my already extremely cramped room full of stuff (There is no where I could even put it if I wanted to).

Don't use them. I need to move past the renting phase of my life before I start modifying rooms to that extent.

Do you currently use acoustic room treatments in your home theater?

If no, is there something in particular that you are looking for in a product that would make you choose to move forward with acoustic room treatments?
I do not currently use room treatments in my personal home theater. Firstly, not all situations call for its use. Many times if I am installing a very directional set of front speakers for a customer I will move them closer to the outside corners and use the untreated wall to help control the sound field.

However, I do agree in most high end theaters a treatment should be used. As an installer all I do is try and talk people into spending their budget on "things".

example:
Me- "You should definitely go with a high definition projector in a room this large"
Customer- "No, our old Sony 27" we got as a wedding present will be fine"

A few weeks later they settle on a flat panel that they spent too much on.

In amongst all that bargaining I have yet to talk anyone into spending even a penny of their budget on acoustical treatments. Frankly, I just can't seem to justify using it in the average $3-5000 home theater. Most basic $5K home theaters are placed in poor locations namely because you get involved after the fact and then critiqued every moment by an interior designer who constantly informs you that your choice of rear speaker is "too large and ugly". I could just imagine what they would say if I wanted to cover the walls with these.

Keep in mind I am talking about the novice home theater user who is placing there setup in a living area. If you want me to sell your product your going to need to make it look like it isn't even there. In fact, that would need to be the products catchphrase "like it's not even there". Place it in a 20' roll form so it can be installed with as few seams as possible and most of all make it look neutral and flat.

If I'm lucky, I get to deal with one full blown mental Audiophile nut a year and I could probably sell him a salt shaker filled with the ashes of burnt tube amps if It guaranteed a more accurate reproduction of sound. He isn't going to be a hard sell on acoustical paneling. The 30 other clients I deal with are going to be.

Subtastic...

Do you currently use acoustic room treatments in your home theater? No, I do not use them currently, mainly due to aesthetics and cost. I certain would consider a product that would provide good performance for the $ and doesn't look hideous.

Sound treatments

I currently do not use any sound treatments but do need some...the main reason I dont have any is that face I have to find anything that both the wife and I find visually appealing and cost effective. Since I do not have a dedicated HT room, my living room is where I have my equipment. I would like to find somethinf that would double as a curtain and somthing that would look more like art hanging on a wall rather than what my wife would call a ugly peice of foam stuck to the wall.

Thank you

yes, i have treatments, DIY. they work ok, better than most would say. but they do need more work put into them. they do need to look better, as they are not finished yet.

I currently do not own acoustic panels. I would like to but my theater room is also the family room so it would have to flow with the rest of the rooms' decor.

no acoustic treatments yet. We live in a townhouse so space is limited. Once we get a bigger place with a dedicated media room then I want treatments that do a great job, look nice and meet the high WAF!

No, I don't use any room treatments.

I'll use treatments when I have a more dedicated space for my theater. Most of what I have seen is not that great looking unless covering whole walls. Cost is also a big factor. I would lose too much space in my room with the size of the panels out there now.

subs and treatments

I do not use any treatments because I am unsure what to do/what to buy/how much to spend or if I actually need them. Currently, I'm using my extra cash on upgrading my system. I suppose I'm doing it backwards, a perfect room would be a good start.

No I do not currently use treatments. I would like to see treatments blend into my decorating, and a god way to determine what treatments, and where placed, will offer ideal results.

I do not currently use acoustic treatments. The biggest thing for me that would get me to use them would be for them to fit in with the room decor because my theater is also my living room. Make it look like art work and also smaller if possible.

1) No, I don't currently have any acoustical room treatments.

2) Other than living in apartment, I wouldn't know where to start with room treatments. I've thought about it and I'm not sure I would know what to get to make sure what I'm doing is effective and how to know, even after that fact, that what I did was effective. Perhaps some 'kits' that you could buy in 'stages' that had typical pieces that would help most people. At this point price is another big factor. I don't have huge $$$ into my HT system, and at least my impression is that acoustical treatments are pretty big $$$ for some incremental gains.

Room Treatment

Yes, I currently have superchunk broadband traps installed in the rear corners of my room and I am working on completing superchunks for the front corners. I also have a ceiling mounted 2" thick panel. I am planning on adding a panel for the left 1st reflection point (window on the right wall) and 1 behind each main. With respect to improvements, I would like to see some lower cost options for making the panels blend in, i.e. look like posters or paintings. My DIY panels are somewhat plain but current products displaying artwork are expensive.

No I don't however I like the idea of having a cost-effective acoustic-room treatment that would enhance the audio & home theater setting.............
