Give a listen to Like a Hurricane from the Live Rust LP. Thats some good hard rock. And I love Joni Mitchell. One of the best female folk-rock singers of her time.I think it's you!
Lots of people hate Young. I think he knows music. Sucky voice but home slice made good. I still give Heart of Gold a listen once in a while. His SNL performance about a million years ago sounded good on TV speakers!
Ann Murray is about as good as it gets for you guys.![]()
I thought you'd appreciate that.@ryanosaur with the informative rating on my tighty whitey post! Ha ha!![]()
I get that, somewhat. I mean, I think the quality of his music is commensurate with his lyrics. Different strokes and all that, I suppose. His brilliance as an artist is what helped him overcome the limitations of his voice, like Bob Dylan, Tom Waits and Lou Reed.I've always thought there are basically two types of popular music fans. Those who prefer to listen to the music, and those who prefer to listen to the lyrics. I've always been a fan of the music over the lyrics. Bob Dylan and Neil Young fans listen closely to the lyrics. I've listened to their recordings, but usually just once. Personally, I think their fans don't seem to care about the tone-deaf sound quality of those singers, or their lack of listenable musical content. In my opinion, Neil Young is boring. When he was part of Buffalo Springfield and CSNY, his lack of musicianship was compensated by the presence of Steven Stills, a very good musician.
Well, he wouldn't be remotely unique in that regard. What's worse, at times Neil Young tends to be preachy. I don't listen to pop music because I like it's editorial content.
And, is a wicked guitarist.Joni Mitchell is quite different. She combines the best of singing voice and lyrics. Her writing ability – both lyrics and music – are excellent and unique.
Yup. Recently picked up a greatest hits (early stuff, pre-Fitzgerald) double-album on vinyl, in excellent condition, for a buck.I like Gordon Lightfoot. He's an excellent performer in front of a live audience.
What's that a double album filled with various versions of Sundown?Yup. Recently picked up a greatest hits (early stuff, pre-Fitzgerald) double-album on vinyl, in excellent condition, for a buck.![]()

I'd add Jimi Hendrix to the list. His brilliance as an artist is what helped him overcome the limitations of his voice, like Bob Dylan, Tom Waits and Lou Reed.
So all those were hits in Canada, eh? I did see Gordon live once....pretty sure he did Sundown twice that night but that was over 40 years ago
Those are from earlier in his career and pretty mellow stuff. Lightfoot is one of Dylan's favourite artists. So all those were hits in Canada, eh? I did see Gordon live once....pretty sure he did Sundown twice that night but that was over 40 years ago![]()
We didn't get much of Gordon outside of Sundown on the radio at the time....they overplayed that song to death! I'll have to see what I can find for streaming and take a listen to some of this....Those are from earlier in his career and pretty mellow stuff. Lightfoot is one of Dylan's favourite artists.
Hold on let me ask emWill you share the ports with them, tho?
So..... @ryanosaur and @Alex2507 I guess what your saying is a port job is out of the question? Just askin for a friend
I liked his voice such a great artist and a guitar goatHere's what Neil Young said:
I'd add Jimi Hendrix to the list.
>>>Hendrix didn’t think much of his singing voice.
While his vocals obviously aren’t as virtuosic as his guitar playing, they’re more than capable – but Hendrix was intensely self-conscious about them. “We had a constant row in the studio,” Chandler remembers, about “where his voice should be in the mix. He always wanted to have his voice buried and I always wanted to bring it forward. He was saying, ‘I’ve got a terrible voice, I’ve got a terrible voice.’ I’d say, ‘You may have a terrible voice, but you’ve got great rhythm in your voice.'”<<<

You must not have been around when these conversations WERE the steam vent. Now I know why this thread was moved to the Steam Vent: To facilitate creepy old dudes posting about hiding naked, except for dirty juvenile underwear, in @Swerd closet.
Jesus, what have the world come to?
It's an East Coast/West Coast thing. I hear they're up for anything on that coast. This coast is also up for anything but with full adherence to The DL Code. Camp grounds get a pass though. If you got a camper there's no reason to be lonely ... a camper or a hunting license.So..... @ryanosaur and @Alex2507 I guess what your saying is a port job is out of the question? I'm still digging too. The worst of what I heard was him saying is he's not getting vaccinated and lists his reasons and research, but also tells folks not to do what he does because he's not an authority or in a position to give advice. He puts out what he's heard or read and argues with experts about it, but has never outright said he thinks folks should not get vaxxed. In fact he feels high risk people should get it.To bump a prior question:
I don't listen to JR podcasts (or podcasts in general). So with that said I'm not taking anyone at their word on this, can anyone point with the full context available, to him actually saying stuff?
I would argue that he's better than Alex Jones. Jesus- what choices we have......well, the choice to not listen would be best. What nonsense.
What is with the ignorant posts about the first amendment. The guy is a lying dirt bag and we all respect Young for yanking his stuff.
Rogan is yelling fire in a crowed theater, teh bitch should not have a podcast on Spotify.
First amendment. My God, the stupidity of teh cult.
