Surrounds are sprayed with a variety of products, but the manufacturers usually keep it a guarded trade secret for some reason. Whatever SVS are using is obviously not stable. I suppose it is possible that it might affect performance, but I had assumed it was largely cosmetic, but since it seems to be such a great secret, may be not.
