Utter newbie just doesn't understand. Can you please explain to me why this can't be?

I have an idea. For comparisons sake, get all the clock radios in your house, your relatives' houses, friends' houses, put them in one room, and blast them to your favorite channel. Them you'll have 50 speakers with 50 receivers. If this is the sound you are looking for, by god you are on the right path.

Unless I have the clock radios too loud so that they "each" send out distorted sound.

Ever heard the term "harmony" or "choir"

1 beautiful voice singing "o happy day" at low volume is a lot less sound than

50 beautiful voices singing "o happy day" at low volume "each"

at "medium" volume [i.e. when I don't try to put too much signal into the speakers] the yammy's sound very nice. Norah jones' voice is melodic, light, and relaxing. If I turn the knob to maximum, she sudden becomes bonnie tyler [total eclipse of the heart] because the speakers 'crackle'

Yes, pros do it with specialized gear such as 70volt outputs, matching transformers, L-pads, wiring up the wazoo and a whole chunk of bucks...you can do it on a lesser scale with a receiver designed to support two "zones" with outboard amps, IR remotes and boosters, rs232 interfaces and CAT5 wiring and oh yeah...a smaller but still significant chunk of bucks...and what you currently have won't cut it...period.

Get another receiver and listen to the radio...it's a completely free and independent common source...music in every room...

The problem is, to put a more fine a point on it - your speakers suck. If you go too loud with them, THEY WILL DISTORT, no matter what you do, or how many receivers you hook up. If you maybe JUST go with the Pioneers, you might be OK, as you said t hose sound better and "louder". As soon as you put those other speakers from the HTiB into the equation, your sound is going downhill, no matter how you do it, and it won't be worth the tiny bit of loudness increase you get. You're asking to do something that will NEVER sound good.

The ONLY way to make it sound reasonable at a loud volume is to get better speakers. Otherwise, just give up, and take whichever set of speakers sounds better (or louder if that's all you care about) and use those. We're all sorry that this is not the answer you want - it sucks, it really does, when you can't just make things work, but that's life. There's a reason people spend so much on this stuff - it's not possible with cheapo equipment.

Yes, and so is visible light, ultraviolet, X-rays, gamma radiation, and the glow of the LED on the the receiver. None of which are interfering currently, with my setup.
