TC 2000 sealed with 2400 watts?

Okay so I had those settings hooked up. I have a suspicion the subwoofer wiring is loose. I will take it apart tonight and bypass the terminal post. See if that gives me different results. I would guess, even if the signals are not matching up perfectly from Audioengine A5's to amp I should still be able to get the subwoofer to move at least a little bit? Next on the list is ruling out the amp.
How do I do this?

I can pick up my EQ later this week from the FedEx location. I also have all my proper wiring coming today/tomorrow. I understand this should rule out any signal issues from PC to Subwoofer? The other Chris mentioned I might need to get a Samson S-Convert worst case. Under these assumptions, I think I can rule out a ton of problems and if it turns out to be a faulty amp I will need to grab another.

The wires should be fine. At least they were working fine the day I shipped it. 1. Did you check the dip switch settings against what I posted. 2. Have you absolutly found out that you are getting enough input to the amp? 3. Do you have a friend with a system that you could bring the TC over to test it there.

I have been told the output voltage of the A5's is 1.7V. The terminal post itself looked kinda weak... so I took it off and connected the wires directly and the subwoofer is finally getting somewhere. I will just replace the terminal post and wait to get my DCX. At least now I can rule out my TC2000 being busted. I will keep everyone posted on my quest for head splitting bass:)

I very much enjoyed doing business with you Tcarcio. I wouldn't hesitate to repeat. I am not completely convinced I am getting adequate input voltage. I do have the dip switch correct. I don't have a friend with a system. I live in the DC area. I will be downloading REW most likely tomorrow and fooling with it. But I will be happy just to have the crossovers set and the correct signal sent to the woofer.
 
Well I appreciate that and the feeling is mutual. I just feel bad that you are haveing a problem.:( Keep at it though I am sure you will figure it out and if you need any more help this place is great for that and you will always get good advice from the members here..........:cool:

A quick update. My DCX came in today but my wires won't come in until the 1st. I will respond when I get it hooked up and working.

1400 watts is the approximate output bridged mono to an 8 Ohm load. At 4 Ohms, it almost reaches 2000 watts. Of course, your electrical circuit matters. If you have say a short run directly from your breaker box with only this on the circuit, it could come close to the measured power. If your circuit is far away, or shared with anything else, then the produced power will be lower, of course.

Connecting Everything

So I am under the impression connecting everything goes like this.

1/8" motherboard sound card to RCA's -> RCA's to XLR adapter's into DCX 2496 (so i am splitting the signal and plugging two XLR's into the inputs of the DCX?)-> Single XLR into the Amp.
Another XLR to RCA to 1/8" to the Audioengine A5's input.

How does this look?
I have yet to get the adapters but hope everything is legit now. If so I will return the stuff I don't need or get what I do need.
 
It pounds!!!
I watched a movie last night and it really showed me what it was capable of. Serious low end smoothness. I have the top end of the subwoofer crossed over at 150-175 khz i think. What should it be at? Is there any good articles to read that tell me how it should sound.
So I got the connections and got everything set up at the house. This sub sounds pretty nice. Plenty of power for my little townhouse room. But I need help with what frequency to use as a crossover. I have no real idea of what to do with the frequency adjustments or EQ'ing. I would really want to shy away from spending any more money right now on any more equipment. My DCX seems to provide an butt ton of flexibility.

Any thoughts on this product?

Some will say 80hz some will say 100hz. I would try both and go with your preference. Glad to hear that the thing will pound your guts out... Try a 12db roll off.

I will try to find a 12db roll off under the settings and see how that goes. I do get a lot of shakes via; windows, walls, ect. Do you think the pad I have linked in the previous post will help with this? Or perhaps there is a DIY solution for this problem.

No, room corrections just sort out weird room response that can affect the response curve of the subwoofer. You are still going to rattle windows.
 
Yea I have adjusted the Crossover to 80hz. Sounds much better. I'm guessing i have the roll off for the bottom end off (is that good?) and for the top end at 12. I am hoping that everything is setup correctly on the DCX. I will continue to play with it.

Speaking frankly. This is downright scary turned up beyond 26/34 gain. It is completely outrageous. I LOVE IT.
 
Should I put any material inside the box before I seal it up, like pillow stuffing or some crap?
