Your projector was hit by lighting? Nothing else was taken out by that hit? Or that's what you told the wifey.

Hope your homeowners policy covered. No the neighbors house was struck directly but the static discharge fried about $17k worth of gear in my house.
Most but not all, electronics depreciate the most.Hope your homeowners policy covered.
Looking great. Looking forward to seeing your HT room gradually progress.I have one just waiting for me to finish my theater. Slow going working by myself. Well, a little help from my wife...and a lot of understanding while I'm upstairs working most every nite when I get home and on the weekends. Gotta get'r done!
I had a RS2 a good while back and then had a Planar 8150. The Planar is a really good DLP for it's time but the RS2000 obviously smokes it.![]()
“Night and day” improvement is right.I've now had the chance to watch a few movies on the NX5. It even looks good on 720p material, no joke at all.
I've found that I prefer NATURAL setting with no image processing at all. There is just great native contrast that these JVC units have. The image looks very crisp and shall I say "natural".
I can completely control the light in the HT room so I run the lamp in LOW mode and it's still very bright.
My impressions so far do not include any 4K material as I don't have a source yet so it's all been 1080 and 720 but it's night and day from the Panasonic.
I also should add that I'm not employing an exotic, overpriced screen either. It's a simple 1.1 gain Silver Ticket from Amazon.
I must put that on my list!“Night and day” improvement is right.
Now I find myself rewatching everything.
Tonight, it’s “Rambo First Blood” 4K DTS-HDMA .![]()
Well, the picture quality of “Rambo First Blood” looked great for an old film, as expected from the JVC.I must put that on my list!

My wife had some friends over and we watched a regular 1080p movie from the PC. They were like “Wow look at the 4K HDR detail and clarity, it’s stunning!”.That is very interesting!
I had my neighbor come over last night and did a little test drive with someone who has no bias.
He was blown away at the image quality of only 1080 material. The real kicker for him was when we threw in Avatar. When we were an hour in to it he turned to me and said the picture is so good I forgot it was CGI until they came out of the avatar bodies.
If these Cinemascope movies are shot on 70mm (12K) films or 8K Digital, I can forgive them. Also interesting, is that over 70% of films shot since the mid 70's are Cinemascope widescreen.
Oh you know I’m looking for these super high resolution films! Now we are going to start a trend where we rate movies based on 35mm or 70mm LOL.
Well, that's how good these projectors are so we need to feed them the best resolution!!!
