Q. What is your favorite finish on a loudspeaker and why?

A. My current speakers and sub are Gloss Black .... very nice looking .... goes very well with black amplifiers, DVD changers, etc. Satin Black works for me too. I have enjoyed looking at many exotic wood speakers but the added cost for the large floor standing wood speakers always kills it for me.

I really like real wood finishes. I prefer darker woods to match the decor. Of course I'm willing to sacrefice on finish in low priced speakers if I can get better sound. I don't like gloss finishes because they reflect light from the display in a dark room and become distracting.

personally, I like Rosewood - I think it looks very cool. Zebrawood is a close second.

I personally like a more modern look. However, I do like the oldschool stuff where it is a dark, rich wood grain, such as mahogany. Some dark reds are nice too. However, its also important as to what color the walls and furniture are too.

I'm not real picky when it comes to finish. I would pick something that matches the room their in. If I had to pick a favorite I guess I would go with a black, glossy finish.

I like the rosewood finish. It seems higher class and brings warmth to the room with all the cold metal of the electronics.

I like the satin black because it looks sleek and powerful. Commands authority in any room.

I'd like to see a nice brushed metal, maybe light silver. I get tired of the old standard black and wood grain features. I want something new with a modern flair.

I would have to go with the Satin Black finish. I think the finish gives the speakers a cleaner, sharper look and goes well with other furnishings.

I like some sort of redwood. I think it makes the speakers look classy. My equipment rack is the only thing in that color and that took some discussion with the wife. That's probably because everything else is black or light wood.

The finish I like

The finish I like is Satin Black. Mostly because black goes with anything, but also because it is easier to make the speaker vanish in a dark room. While I really like cherry wood or natural maple, black is more practical for the reasons stated.

In my current situation I have a graphite finish on my desk area and everything follows suite like my printer exactly matches the desk and has a silver trim so silver and black and graphite would be my choise even my couch is black and all fixtures match everything else in the room. So thats my choice is a black with silver trim or graphite finish.

red cherry

I like a dark red cherry finish. I think it's the richest looking finish a speaker can have.

Personally I like speakers that look like fine furniture, so any kind of rich wood.
