Black!

My wife told me to always to avoid speakers with a stained wood finish (unless it is black)- that way if you move the speakers to another room (or house), they won't clash with other wood finishes in the room. (White works just as well, but I prefer black over white).

I prefer Piano Black because it goes with any decor. If you refurnish your room to another furniture finish they will still blend in

Chery

I love the look of Chery wood on speakers. It just has such a rich look to it and as it ages over time it darkens taking on a nice new look. Plus it matches my floors and other furnishings in my home.:)

I like piano black.

My prefrence is black or piano black because it tends to go with any decor. I've tried other colors, but the speakers stand out too much. In dark room rooms, the black is invisiable when watching movies or listening to music.

Thank you and have a great day.

My favorite finish is a dark cherry-colored wood. Unfortunately, in my living room, this won't mesh with the furniture, so my next set of speakers are likely to be a medium/light oak color.

Rosewood. Fortunately AV123 is doing that now, if for a limited time.

Black is Back

Black is my color of choice. This color fits with the other components and rood decor.

finish

Piano black, Matches everything no matter what your color scheme is in your Home Theater. Also having speakers in front of your screen the black seems to make your speakers disappear.

What is your favorite finish on a loudspeaker and why? Whatever wood finish is in the room so the speaker blends in, preferably a maple.

Piano black.
Or any light grained wood with a natural finish.

Black is boring, especially with all the other black components I have. Now I say this with an all-black speaker set. Though, if you have to have black, I do like the piano black approach. If done well, it's very snazzy.

I definitely prefer the richer deeper dark woods, but not particularly oak. Rosewood is particularly beautiful. Mahogany can look very nice too.

The challenge that I see, is that if you go for the exotic woods, it either needs to be a very, very good imitation or the real thing. A bad veneer is worse than a boring veneer.

I like Rosewood, because that's the finish of my Rocket 750's and Bigfoot, and they look great

Speaker Finish

Something that blends into the background or blends well with the existing furniture so that they do not stand out too much. Meets WAF...:D

Whichever color meets the WAF. Currently I would go with black, but it would depend on the room.

two faves

either glossy piano black or satin cherry. I think they both look classy and unobtrusive

A WAF (wife approved finish) is necessary to maintain harmony and avoid long periods of silence.

Contest Question: What is your favorite finish on a loudspeaker and why?

Black Ash or any other matted black finish looks good because it's unobstrusive and can blend in well in a home theater environment.

Black Black Black

I like black. Why? It simply passes the test of time, dissapears into the room (helping that wife acceptance factor) and makes them less noticable. Always my favourite.
