Satin black, but I like being able to apply a wood veneer or other finish to match the room if needed.

Tough choice. It really depends on the decor.
For right now in my HT system, I would go with dark cherry as my favorite.
You didn't ask but least favorite is satin black.

colors?

Cherry wood downstairs, gloss black everywhere else. Just looks sharp!:)

Personally I find that a “Natural Wood” finish blends “cold hard technology” with the “emotional warmth of music" and is far more “inviting”.

My favourite finish?

Contest Question: What is your favorite finish on a loudspeaker and why?

Wellllll, I have had a happy ending in my day. Oops, not what you meant by finish.

I prefer a maple finish, I find the light colour mixes well with many more contemporary decors and does not show dust as readily.

:D For a real different look I would like to see and smell red cedar, hmmmm, mmmmm.

a wood finish that matches the furniture in the room (for me currently more of a cherry type finish). piano black almost always works too.

I wish I could've gone w/a maple finish for all of my speakers, but then my components wouldn't match right and the WAF would make life difficult. But, black (what I have) really isn't bad as it allows the focus of the HT experience to be on show and and it matches with everything.

Speaker Finish

I prefer a deep, rich wood finish such as cherry or mahogany.

Paint it black!

Another vote for gloss black. Canotes power and elegance and goes with any decor.

I like black. Preferably piano or gloss black. Goes with everything.

Different look...

I like colors that are different... something more natural for a room... like the Boston Cherry, or dark maple finishes.... veneer look. Standard black is boring.

I like piano black gloss. The shine gives them a classy look.

Piano Black

Piano Black would be my favorite (i.e. Pioneer Elite stuff) and Black Ash would be my least favorite. Dark Cherry with plenty of poly is good also.

I like the Black Oak veneers since it gives you a nice wood look with the black that pretty much matches anything.

Dark Cherry (or Rosewood) in real/natural wood veneer.
It's good to have a quality satin black (not black ash!) to fall back on.
