I heard that the Florida state governor is refusing to put the state in lock down. WTF? I also know that other states are not in lockdown. Why arent they? Are these leaders willing to take one for the team? I did some math around Canadian and US statistics on todays snapshot. If I took the US pecentage of infected people compared to population, Canada would have 88000 infected people but Canada has 8000 infected people. This prooves that lockdown is working.
Unfortunately south of your border, too many folks think "free" + "dumb" = "freedom."

Dear Leader has spouted off 6 figure death estimates. Since it came from the mouth of He Who Can Do Or Say No Wrong, shouldn't his ardent followers take it seriously at this point? We've got too many people who aren't going to appreciate the severity of this until they or someone they care about is on their deathbed.

Something of note is that yes, Canada probably has fewer cases, but the 8000 that are infected are only the confirmed cases. Same with the US. I'm willing to bet there are a LOT more that are actually infected, but haven't been tested. In both countries.

DeSantis claims to be in daily contact with Trump and is going by current data, not future projections.

That's like falling off a sky scraper and reporting 'all is well' at every window.

I'm seeing improvement in how people are acting. Keeping their distance and such. But still too many people just out and about. Sun just came out and that's going to get people wanting to go outside. That's the problem with the timing for those up in the north. After being inside all winter, people want out. The weather getting nicer isn't going to help that at all.

What kind of math is that? Canada has about 10% of the US population, so if you take the 207K cases in the US and divide by 10, you get 20,700 cases.

The lack of large cities and low population density makes any accurate comparison between the US and Canada very difficult.

I'm in Easter Ontario, not Alaska :p .. and my wife and I go out for walks along the path. Most people keep the distance I have to say. It hasnt got warm enough to sunbathe nude yet but when that time comes, I know there will be lots of privacy to be had for days. ;)

“One of the great problems we have in the Republican Party is that we don’t encourage you to be nasty,” he told the group. “We encourage you to be neat, obedient, and loyal, and faithful, and all those Boy Scout words, which would be great around the campfire but are lousy in politics.” - Gingrich 24 June 1978

“His idea,” says Norm Ornstein, a political scientist who knew Gingrich at the time, “was to build toward a national election where people were so disgusted by Washington and the way it was operating that they would throw the ins out and bring the outs in.”

Gingrich recruited a cadre of young bomb throwers—a group of 12 congressmen he christened the Conservative Opportunity Society—and together they stalked the halls of Capitol Hill, searching for trouble and TV cameras. Their emergence was not, at first, greeted with enthusiasm by the more moderate Republican leadership. They were too noisy, too brash, too hostile to the old guard’s cherished sense of decorum. They even looked different—sporting blow-dried pompadours while their more camera-shy elders smeared Brylcreem on their comb-overs.

Gingrich and his cohort showed little interest in legislating, a task that had heretofore been seen as the primary responsibility of elected legislators. Bob Livingston, a Louisiana Republican who had been elected to Congress a year before Gingrich, marveled at the way the hard-charging Georgian rose to prominence by ignoring the traditional path taken by new lawmakers. “My idea was to work within the committee structure, take care of my district, and just pay attention to the legislative process,” Livingston told me. “But Newt came in as a revolutionary.”

How many times did the Republican house vote to repeal the ACA under Obama when it couldn't work.

How many times since taking power

It's power for power's sake with no intent to even try to govern. That's not the DNC, just the GOP.

Do you not see how this just described the Democrats and what I said above? Newt was reacting to this BAU across the aisle.

And I hope they continue. Obamacare is a disaster, did nothing they promised, and needs to be thrown in the trash. We'll have to pass it to see what's in it. THAT, my friend, is power for power's sake. It's funny how Dems have learned to accuse us of every dirty trick and intent they actually do themselves. The media convinces the ignorant. Hearst realized a long time ago that if the media repeats something enough, people will believe it.

Because there's only one party who had a leader that said "our number one goal is making sure the opposition president doesn't serve a second term".

Again... not a goal... but the number one goal of the party.
WOW! Have you seen no actual news during the last 3 years? And exactly WHO is the Democrat party leader? At seems to be Biden. (Hahahahaha). Do I really need to post him saying exactly your statement above? Pelosi? Schumer? C'mon... tell me.

It's cheaper. It uses fewer resources. It's allows rural areas to even exist (as opposed to suburban sprawl), its better for the environment, and it makes industrialization possible.
Dems want "people to live in cities" for those reasons? Wow. You're kidding, right? "Cheaper" to live in a city? Really? Uses fewer resources? Really? Environment? Really? Boy, you really do see things differently.

He had the oppertunity to act preventatively much earlier on but he chose to ignore the plain facts and is even late in reacting reactively.
Here we go again. He DID, and you people criticized him and said he was "fearmongering". You ridiculed him for saying we could clean facemasks. Now they're doing it. You laughed when he was an early supporter of a drug that was just approved by the FDA. You are consumed by your hate and blind to the truth.

If you people could admit when he was right, we could have an intelligent discussion about when he's wrong.

You are not going to have any kind of worthwhile discussion with someone that far out. The only reason I am leaving his posts there is because it serves as a reminder that yes, these people do exist.
Shady, you people are not going to have any kind of worthwhile discussion with anyone who disagrees with you. But I understand. I would find it difficult to have a meaningful discussion with someone I hated. I mean deep down burning hatred. But I still don't understand where it comes from. You all have Socialist leanings and think "the wealthy" owe you some kind of reparations because YOU are the all-wise that should decide how much more than you have should be acceptable. I get it, and I disagree with it. Equal opportunity doesn't mean equal outcome. But though I disagree with you, I don't hate you.

I disagreed with almost everything B HO did. I wished him out of office, but I didn't hate them. I actually think it would be fun to have a beer or 3 with him.

But you're right. As long as you people embrace that consuming kind of hate, I doubt you can ever have any kind of worthwhile discussion with us. And as long as we have no respect for people who thrive on a demonic level hate, we can have no meaningful discussion with you.

Check your facts again Herbu. He down played the seriousness of this disease and this can be clearly demonstrated by the fact that he wanted to return the work force by Easter. He had no clue how serious this was and he just recently reversed his decision.

Not in the slightest.

Perhaps you meant to post something that didn't make it?

And I hope they continue.
They didn't.

The moment they had the power to *actually* repeal the ACA they suddenly stopped voting on it.

I'm still awaiting the alternative they were "finalizing" back in 2009

Obamacare is a disaster, did nothing they promised,
Well. It did get pre-existing conditions covered, which is very popular.
...and it did get millions of more Americans insured, which has saved a bunch of lives.
...and it does appear to have slowed the rate in rise of healthcare costs.
...and it did extend medicare, except in the GOP states where the governors sued to not give healthcare to the poor.

This despite the GOP spending far more time on lawsuits than they ever spent trying to give healthcare.

We'll have to pass it to see what's in it. THAT, my friend, is power for power's sake.
No, that's you either through ignorance or malpheasence paraphrasing what you thought was said such that it has a differnet meaning.

It's funny how Dems have learned to accuse us of every dirty trick and intent they actually do themselves.
The GOP order seems to be this.
1) Do bad things that the otherside is not doing (or not doing to nearly the same level) and accuse the other side of doing them.
2) When it's correctly pointed out by the other side that you are doing them, say "the whole system is corrupt". (I quoted Gingrich on that BTW)
3) When it's correctly pointed out that the other side is not doing them and that you are only accusing the other side of doing what you are doing, accuse *them* of only accusing you of what you are doing.

Do you want to argue actual relevant and true examples? I know you don't. Let's start with "the southern strategy".

The media convinces the ignorant. Hearst realized a long time ago that if the media repeats something enough, people will believe it.
But you know better... because your source is.

umm...

Your source is....

ehhh..

Either "other media", "you heard it from someone", or "you just know".
WOW! Have you seen no actual news during the last 3 years? And exactly WHO is the Democrat party leader?
I believe that's Pelosi until the DNC puts forth a nominee for PotUS.

Do I really need to post him saying exactly your statement above? Pelosi? Schumer? C'mon... tell me.
Any one of them will be fine.

Please quote any of those three people saying "the number one priority of the Democratic party is to ensure that Trump is a one-term president".

I'll wait.

Here's a thought (and I dont hate you btw. Your a solid contributor with good advice). Obama wasnt liked by the republicans but I dont believe he wasnt hated either. Why is this ? Could it be that Obama's message was that of tolerance compared to that of Trump's reactive response of non tolerance? When one preaches hate like Trump does, then hate is the response he receives back as a response.
