    Def Tech Replacement Drivers

Yeah, my Def Tech BP8bs and BP10bs sound like excellent speakers to me. I love them for HT. The only reasons they are not my favorites for music are a preference for monopoles in that application and a midbass hump. Quality wise, I think they would be hard to improve.

    Def Tech Replacement Drivers

The drivers and crossover in any speaker system are designed to work together. Replacing one without also replacing the other is unlikely to give good results, unless the replacement drivers have performance characteristics virtually identical to the originals.

    Top 5 favorite bass players

Weren't John Paul Jones' bass lines played on keyboards, rather than on an actual bass?

    Cat Power

I really like "The Greatest". Her earlier CD, "You Are Free", was a bit too mellow for my tastes. She is pretty. (Unfortunately, she is a smoker, which completely ruins anyone's attractiveness for me.:( )

Bohlender Graeber’s ribbon tweeter planar speakers

Never heard them but wouldn't hesitate recommending them? Heck, I'll second that! That's some great advice!:D

Bose specs aint half as bad as "branded" sats/sub

Bose refuses to publish specs. They know that it would be embarassing if they were ever compared with actual speakers.

How heavy should speaker stands be?

I filled mine with lead shot. I am not concerned about it from a health standpoint because, once filled, there is a cap to seal each tube. Nobody is going to come in contact with the shot, and it would take a hard shake for any dust to come from it.

Never heard of him. Who does he play with?

    touching the tweeter

I have seen/heard speakers that have had the tweeters punched in, then pushed back into shape, and still sounded fine.

    Quality & Price?

Probably the best performance/price ratio I have heard is the B&W 602s. I can't think of any speaker that sounds as good for $600/pr. or less, and it would take a big jump in price to improve on them.

Top 10 Guitar Players all genres

Some of us happen to like smooth jazz. I certainly listen to much more challenging jazz when I am in the mood to do so, but I get a lot of enjoyment from Lee Ritenour, Mindi Abair, Jeff Lorber, et. al.

Athena new LS speaker line. Verdict?

    Help to find Percussion music

The Complex has a lot of guitar and vocals. Audio focusses more on the percussion.

    B&W new 600 series (replacing S3)

The 602 S3s are among the very few bookshelf speakers in their price range that don't require a sub. The CM1s sound great, but have almost no bass. If the 685s combine the best of both of these, they will be great.

    Help to find Percussion music

I discovered a Persian percussion group called Zarbang who I really like. Their CD (mostly live) is currently my percussion "reference". If you are more rock oriented, Blue Man Group's stuff is also quite good (unique instruments that they make themselves.)

    Studio monitors

Not only will I definitely not be selling the 705s, but listening to the monitors has dramatically increased my appreciation of them. I tried them again this weekend and was blown away by the soundstage, imaging, bass, sense of "presence" of the musicians, and the generally powerful, involving...

Almost anything by T-Bone Burnett. The newly remastered Andreas Vollenweider CDs, especially Book of Roses.

    Studio monitors

I tend to go the other way. If I actually do end up enjoying my music more on $400 MSRP speakers than on $1500 ones, it will cause me to wonder if the more expensive ones were ever justified to begin with.:(

    Studio monitors

On the face of it, it doesn't seem possible for the monitors to displace my beloved 705s. As I continue listening to them, however, I realize it is possible that they might! I will certainly re-listen to my entire CD collection on them. (If so, I hope I can get a good price for the 705s, as they...
