    tweeters on surround?

The primary purpose of surround speakers is to provide directional cues. These cues are often high frequency, so a separate tweeter would be a definite improvement over a "full range" cone.

any comments on the B&W 600 Series Speakrs.

Something else to consider: I have recently been using my Def Tech BP8Bs for stereo again. At $800/pr they fall within the 600 series price range. While I am aware of a couple of minor technical limitations, I actually find them more enjoyable in some ways than my $1500/pr B&Ws. The huge...

    The best from ECM label

I probably have several of their recordings, but I don't know because I usually ignore what label a CD is released under (I only care who the artist is.) I do have a couple by Steve Tibbets, and they are amazing. Pretty high up on my favorites list, in fact.

    VH1 Rock (Dis)honors Genesis?

I didn't think it was nearly that old. I will check the date on it. It was after the band had been reduced to three members, so much newer than the classic Genesis. (In any event, at my age, 20 years ago is recent.:D)

any comments on the B&W 600 Series Speakrs.

Speakers that sound great to you in one room can be made to sound great in another, as long as you are willing to experiment a bit with placement and a few simple room treatments. The 600 series are designed to be an easy load to drive, so the receiver is not going to be much of a factor.

    klipsch vs jbl

In any comparison between Klipsch and another brand, I will always choose the other brand unless it's Bose.

any comments on the B&W 600 Series Speakrs.

You should probably start by identifying what you don't like about your current speakers so that you know what you want to improve. I cannot recommend buying any speakers you haven't heard, so definitely audition the B&Ws (and others) before deciding. Beyond that, the 600 series are excellent...

    VH1 Rock (Dis)honors Genesis?

My Genesis Live at Wembley DVD is quite good. It is a fairly recent concert.

Once again: what are you listening to now?

I picked up the Dungen one. I have to be in the right mood to like it, but when I am it is great. I also got Mirrored by Battles, and I love it! So technically accomplished that you will wonder how they managed it.

    Klipsch....buy or avoid?

A speaker that can be described as "in your face" is not a speaker I will ever like. I hate that kind of aggressive sound. I guess that is why I hate Klipsch.

Klipsche RF-62 VS Def Tech 7006 Towers

I like to switch speakers around once in a while. This weekend, I put my BP8Bs in my stereo and my B&Ws in their place as HT surrounds. I find myself enjoying this arrangement. In several technical respects, the B&Ws are superior (and among the best in the world), but I still find the Def Techs...

Klipsche RF-62 VS Def Tech 7006 Towers

This shows you how radically different tastes can be. I felt that my RB62s were an expensive mistake because the sound was harsh, grating, metallic, and ultimately unlistenable. I was very happy to replace them with B&W 602s. To me, the improvement was night and day, and well worth the 50% price...

    Anyone Listen to Soundtracks?

Music producers must know this, so why would they apply compression? It is not a technical limitation, because the CD format was designed to capture the full dynamics of a live performance. Besides, when I said that soundtracks sound better, I was comparing CDs to CDs, not CDs to DVDs.

Klipsche RF-62 VS Def Tech 7006 Towers

I am certain that there is already a thread on this. Personally, I tried Klipsch speakers once, and will never own them again. By contrast, I love my Def Techs for HT (they are pretty good for music, too.)

PSB Speakers? Should I take the plunge?

Confirmed bachelor=never married and never will be=no "compromises" (translation: no obedience)=freedom.:)

    Anyone Listen to Soundtracks?

The orchesstral sections of soundtrack recordings nearly always sound better than most CDs of classical orchestra music. Why is that? Is is a matter of budget?

PSB Speakers? Should I take the plunge?

You can probably tell that I am a confirmed bachelor!:D

PSB Speakers? Should I take the plunge?

I have been told that women have good taste in decoration. If they really think that pretty speakers are ugly, then that "good taste" theory must be wrong. Maybe they just need training.

PSB Speakers? Should I take the plunge?

I find that attitude bizarre. To me, nicely designed speakers are an attractive addition to any room. My B&Ws are as beautiful as any modern sculpture I have seen.

    Klipsch....buy or avoid?

While I have heard and liked Canadian speakers based on those NRC results, I find that I prefer others that are not, particularly British designs. My conclusion is that those preferences, though widespread, are not universal.
