    VH1 Rock (Dis)honors Genesis?

The sad thing is that the songs you listed as having heard on the radio are crap compared to the older (and longer) stuff. It is not that they are bad songs, it is just that the early work is utterly brilliant.

    VH1 Rock (Dis)honors Genesis?

While I like both, I have always had a strong preference for the early Genesis. It upsets me that I am too young to have seen them live during the Gabriel era. I have heard rumors of a reunion tour including The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway in its entirety. If this turns out to be true, I will...

    Def Tech BP 8B

I can't say. I use mine without a sub. (Fortunately, my HT is in a more isolated room than my stereo so I can get the full effect.)

    Steve Roach

Of the Steve Roach material I have heard so far, my favorite is Body Electric. It is, as the title suggests, body moving music. It can create such a deep trance that you might think you are on drugs while perfectly sober. Second and third runners-up are Trance Spirits and On This Planet. I...

    Def Tech BP 8B

This weekend, I temporarily swapped the BP 8Bs with my primary stereo speakers (B&W 705s) just to remind myself what they sound like for music. My conclusion is that I would probably enjoy them in a house. In my apartment, however, I have to turn them down too much to get the full sound they are...

    A different rock genre

I wondered about that also. Early Genesis was great. The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, in particular, is a classic on the same order as Dark Side of the Moon.

    Bose QuietComfort 2 vs 3

I threw my money away on a pair of Triports once. They were some of the worst sounding headphones I have ever heard. For $150, they hardly sounded any better than the 'phones that come with a $10 portable CD player.:(

    Robert Rich

I am a massive Robert Rich fan. Seven Veils ranks among my top 5-10 CDs of all time, by any artist (and is the most well-recorded CD I have ever heard, period. The soundstage and imaging, wow!) Propagation and Gaudi are also right up there. One has to choose carefully, though. A few of his...

    Def Tech BP 8B

That is a sweet deal. MSRP on mine was $800/pr, and that was around 4 years ago.

    Def Tech BP 8B

I use those as surrounds in my HT, with the 10Bs in front. I love them for movies because they produce a really big, enveloping soundstage. I find the bipolar sound a bit too unfocused for music, though. Neither they nor the 10Bs have built in subs, but you would hardly guess that by listening...

    A different rock genre

I would add Banco De Gaia and Spock's Beard to the list. As far as old stuff, Gentle Giant was one of my favorites.

20 Albums You Should Own, But Probably Don't

I have nothing against the Scorpions, I just think they fall rather short of being "classic" (especially to anything like the same degree as the Beatles or the Eagles!)

    $1000 speakers or $5000

Those Bostons are som d**n fine speakers. You would have to spend a lot to noticeably improve on them. As for your specific choice, I prefer B&W to pretty much everything else out there, at every price level. On the other hand, I find the Klipsch sound fatiguing and would never recommend them.

20 Albums You Should Own, But Probably Don't

I would certainly agree that the Eagles and the Beatles are classics, but the Scorpions? LOL.

Stereo setup..which would be better for me..

That is definitely going to be a big factor in your choice. The best speakers for, say, jazz will not neccesarily be best for what you want. Take plenty of your own music to auditions. (FWIW I got rid of my Klipsch speakers and would never recommend them to anyone. I found them excessively...

The Demise of the CD Album

I have seen (and purchased) more excellent new CDs in the last couple of years than in the previous four or five. My impression is of both quality and selection increasing.

    Ways to Biwire???

Biamping could perhaps improve the sound. Biwiring has no audible benefits.

Top 10 Guitar Players all genres

I was always a big Michael Hedges fan. I only wish he had recorded more ensemble stuff. Solo guitar is something I only like in small doses, even from someone that good.

    Wow

They look nice. Of course, sound is everything.
