The Incredible Hulk - The good one.

I fully expected this one to suck, so I hadn't even considered seeing it. After reading this thread, I will have to give it a try.

    Really Shocked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What shocks me is the sheer number of such incidents there have been recently. It also seems to keep increasing!

Once again: what are you listening to now?

Having recently purchased some new speakers that sound exceptionally good with live rock (JBL Stadiums), I have just ordered a pile of live classic rock CDs. Steppenwolf, Blue Oyster Cult, Rush, Allman Bros., Supertramp, The Doors, Kansas, etc.

So Obama shows he is nothing new......

Absolutely anybody would be an improvement over Bush. We could pick some random bum off of skid row, offer him booze in return for being president, and he would be better than Bush.

I have never heard of "playing a disc wet". How can that not adversely affect the sound?

    Entry level Speakers Versus.....

The only possible definition of a "higher level" is based on how they sound to you. If you like them better then yes, they are a higher level. If not, then they aren't. Why do you care what your buddy (or anyone else) thinks? (For myself, I hear such excellent and completely satisfying sound...

Klipsch and Energy Coming to Circuit City

My local CC was pretty sad looking the last time I was in there. I can definitely believe they might be closing.

Definitely not. It doesn't matter if you play a CD 100 times or 100,000 times, it will never show even the most miniscule signs of wear. "Perfect Sound Forever" is more than just a motto, it is the truth.

I always thought it was a silly debate. CD does not merely sound better, it sounds obviously, dramatically better (not a subtle improvement at all.) Switching from vinyl to CD was easily the biggest single upgrade I have ever made to any system.

Exactly. This is the fact that those who try to find flaws in the CD format fail to understand. The Redbook encoding/decoding sceme works. There is no signal loss whatsoever. The output of a CD player and the input at the microphone are indistinguishable within the audible frequency range. This...

    Spiderwick Chronicles

I love movies like that, and will probably get it. Aside from Harry Potter, my favorite so far is Stardust.

The distortion is not "added into" the recording, but arises from the fundamental limitations of the medium itself. Digital has no such limitations, which is why CD sound is flawless.

Is Definitive Technology Polk Audio Under a Different Name?

Def Techs don't have "grilles", but close-fitting fabric "socks". They expect these to be left in place, so they spend all the money on performance, not looks.

Is Definitive Technology Polk Audio Under a Different Name?

First, Polk speakers are much better than Bose (all speakers are much better than Bose, LOL.) Second, Paradigm speakers are good for the price, while there are very few Klipsch speakers I can stand listening to for more than a few minutes (because of the brightness/harshness.)

Is Definitive Technology Polk Audio Under a Different Name?

Perhaps you would prefer: At each price point where both companies make speakers, Def Tech is always much better.;)

Klipsch La Scala with Adcom, harsh highs

Thank you, I try.;) The only speakers that sound good in my book are those that sound good in "direct mode", without any equalization or even basic tone controls. Certainly, any speaker that needs to be physically modified to sound good is a POS.

    Rocky Horror DVD

When I was in college, there was a theater by campus that showed it every Friday at midnight for 5 years. DVD will never do it justice, since it was always about the audience.

Is Definitive Technology Polk Audio Under a Different Name?

They do have a very different sound. Specifically, Def Techs are much better.

    Realistic Break-in

There is only one reason that manufacturers recommend "break in": They hope that if you think the sound sucks, you will keep them past the 30-day return period hoping for it to improve.
