Yes. Must have handles. What is it that your wife does not like? I would think the cleaner look would go over better.

Nice setup.
She thinks the handles make it look too industrial and the ATI3000 is too white (but that may only be the camera).

That looks different, are the peak indicators ballistic?
How do they work?

Thanks. I don't think they are that bright in reality.

No they are just a single green light. I just noticed it now that you said it. It is just the image.

Well, I'm listening to my AT6012 now.

No, I'm not really listening to the Orion & dual RBH SX-1010N subs connected to the AT6012. :D

Set up is as follows:

Speakers- Small
Sub: SP2MIX (Sub 1 & Sub 2 have independent levels), LFE+Main
XO: 80Hz
THX: Ultra2 On
Sound Mode: Pure Direct (2.2)

Wow! It's like hearing the Orion for the first time. Amazing sound. Of course, I'll say the same thing about the Salon2 after 3 months of not listening to them. :D

The BASS is CRAZY GREAT. :D

So the AT6012 (60 WPC) is driving 12 channels: 8 Ch for the 2 Orion & 4 Ch for the 2 SX-1010N SUBWOOFERS.

And the BASS is kicking my a$$. A 60WPC amp driving four 10" subwoofer drivers. ATI is great.

P.S. You can probably get handles for the other ATI. ;)
The handles & screws cost $25 per set (pair). Unfortunately, I tried to unscrew the front screws on my AT6012, but they won't loosen. They start to loosen when I turn counterclockwise, but after a few rounds, the screws up tighten up again. So they tighten up BOTH WAYS (clockwise & counterclockwise).

So I can't even loosen up the screws in the first place. :(

Why haven't you talked to ATI about it? I can't believe they wouldn't make it right.

That doesn't sound right if they are screws.
Definitely worth a call.
If you are close, bring it to them for an upgrade :)

It was nice of them to take mine off and replace the screws.
They are black so it can be difficult to remove them without scratching off the coating.

My ATI 3005 shipped FedEx, estimated delivery on Friday :)

On the transformer size, my guess is that if 1.8kva can b used for 4 channels that is 450va per channel.
interestingly enough, that is the exactly the same as the Mark Levinson 532H ;)

No "secret" as far as I'm concerned. ATI will not deny it. Jeff will only say "No comment". :D

This goes to show how far downhill Levinson products have gone. My old Madrigal-designed 334s had a dedicated 801va transformer per channel for 125 watts into 8 ohms. That's one reason why 500 watts per channel into 2 ohms was easy, assuming you had the 240v version. They really don't make them how they used to.

Not doubt, double-down amps are comforting.
At least with the Revels, I just think of the ATI 3000 as a over-designed 225 WPC amp :p

It is hard to find an ATI 3000 amp reviews with measurements, so I find the Sterophile 532H review comforting.

It is also enlightening because you can find exalted reviews of the 533H (from sites with no measurements) that claim that every detail is reproduced.
This ML is superior to the Parasound Halo (at least from the stars) but the ATI/Outlaw lacks the air and heft.
I suppose I might be even more amused if I knew what was inside ;)

I emailed Jeff Hipps last night. Will see what he says.
"Production tells me you need to remove the top cover first. Inside the screws are "double nutted". The procedure is to remove the locking nut first, then you can remove the screws in the normal way from the front."

So I need to remove the screws around the amp to remove the top cover? Anyone done this? :D

I'll fax Jeff the order sheet for the handles. Gotta have handles. :D

Good call. I would have used an Italian Micrometer (aka sledge hammer).

Take lots of pictures.....wait....This is Acu, that goes without saying :)

Edit: FedEx just updated my delivery to Mon 4/01/2013. Arghhh.

I think that's true of quite a few amplifiers. I wouldn't trade my Threshold or Perreaux for some of the newer stuff. They're both extremely overbuilt and have tremendous quality.
