I can buy the Parasound A5 for about the same price as an ATI3005.

ATI has a 50 watt advantage, better THD, and lower noise, and a larger power supply.
Parasound has faster slew rate, better damping faster, is lighter, prettier (WAF is important) and lower input impedance.

HomeTheaterMag felt the sound of the A5 was a bit better than the Outlaw 7700.

In ATI's favor, I could always send the ATI back for $1000 upgrade if I get the itch to bi-amp.

All advice is appreciated?

I would say the color is very dark grey, not black. But if the lights are dimmed, they will look black. :D
It's dark green, holy smokes and here I thought the amp was black..

Irv, nice deal on that 3005... what does it weigh 105 lbs

It weighs a lot, that's for sure. There's a lot of transformer and heat sink in that chassis.

I have decided to join the club and orders the ATI3005 from Classic Audio Parts.

Now the wait as it crosses the country.

You probably won't regret it. Be sure to have another strong guy around to help you unpack it. I found it a little challenging to get the beast out of the double box. ATI really should have put handles on the rear panel too.

Thanks for the info.
I have a friend who helped me with the Outlaw which was about 80 lbs.
My install is very easy. I have a custom roll out credenza with open back.
We put very good wheels on it.

Last time, I we put two face cloths under the read feet and slit it in.
Then, I went around the back and lifted the sides and slipped them out.

Duck soup.

Here is a picture of the setup. The middle bottom is the amp.

I am pretty sure my wife will hate the handles but I let her keep the rug in the bedroom so we are even :)

Congrats on owning a legend. :D

Register the amp for the 7 yr warranty, not that you will need it, but register anyway. :D

Every ATI amp also comes with the 12V trigger cable, which is nice.

Oh, I love the aesthetic of those big front handles. I am so glad my ATI 3005, 3002, & 2004 have those front handles. I am disappointed my AT6012 does not. :D

Anyway, get your 20A outlet ready!

I guess I will see what my wife thinks of them :p

Glad you reminded me, I have the change the outlet because I have standard plugs on the 20 amp outlet.

It is still not a done deal.
My wife is not overly thrilled with the look of these amps.
Logo, lettering, etc. is not ideal. ;)

I want it to disappear. If I could get a blank front, it would be perfect.

The styling is needlessly utilitarian.
I tell her it is like a Russian rocket.
All power and not much grace :)

I have checked out your pictures but cannot get a good feel for it.
You can see my setup above. Do you think the AT3000 will fit in?

Are the racks adjustable? If not, what is the clearance on the bottom? 10" would be very good. I think the AT3005 would look great under the Processor.

The logo problem can be solved with some carefully cut and placed low-gloss electrician's tape over the logos.

You could also consider installing smoked glass doors on the front of the cabinet, but then you'd probably have a cooling problem. I have a much bigger room than you do, but when my 3005 is using only two channels to drive the Salon2s it throws off a considerable amount of heat. It's not a problem for me, because my amp just sits on a low amp stand between the speakers (your wife would be appalled at my set-up), but excessive heat is something to watch for in your case, especially if you use all five channels.

The glass shelf holding the AV8801 is adjustable so there is no problem having a foot.
I have the 7500 and it does heat the AV8801 a bit.

I had glass doors made but never bothered to put them on after I remembered how they never looked clean.
There is a pretty good mess of wires that I wrap in white sleeves and it is amazing how they disappear into the white wall in back.
Now, I buy only white cables.

I use all 5 channels but the 7500 never gets very warm watching movies.
I can get the outer amps toasty paying 2-channel music. :)

While I wait for my ATI 3005.
For the ATI 3005 owners out there here specs:

- 2 x 1.8KvA transformers (Not sure how that works with separate windings)
- Capacitance is 36,000 microfarads per channel
- 12 output devices per channel</SPAN>
- Stable into 2 ohms

Mine will ship with the handles removed and replacement screws in place.
I know AcuDefTechGuy. I know.

P.S. You can probably get handles for the other ATI. ;)

That's not how my 3005 looks. One transformer is definitely bigger than the other. Maybe my amp needs a boob job.

Yeah, that did not make sense since there are individual windings.
I'm not done squeezing information out of ATI. It's like a deposition ;)

I am still waiting for them to load it onto the goat cart :)

Doh! Must......have........handles........ :D

I've been meaning to ask them if I could buy handles for my AT6012. I will sent ATI an email now. :D

If they have handles for my AT6012, I will buy the handles for sure (as in 100% sure). :D

Just spoke to Jeff on phone. He will find out if the handles will fit the AT6012. Apparently no one has asked him this question regarding the 6012. I must be very weird.

Yes. Must have handles. What is it that your wife does not like? I would think the cleaner look would go over better.
