Top 10...good one. :D

My interest in them isn't speed - it's silence. I think that one would help quiet down my new PC. I'm just not sure it's worth the price right now.
I'm waiting for the prices to fall and the sizes to increase, still a little too much on the bleeding edge for me. Is your HD that noisy ... maybe put it in power save mode so it shuts down?

Thanks. It's not that bad, but the PC as a whole is pretty quiet, and the vibration from the HD adds some noise. I figure if I can spend ~$100 and make it really quiet, it might be worth it. I don't have much data on this particular PC, so I don't need a large drive. I do want at least ~120GB, though.

Quiet is nice. For me, it's more about the ruggedness of SS over mechanical failures on traditional HDD. I believe SS boots faster too.

Looking her up let me learn the word "tritagonist" (which she is). This also let me learn "deuteragonist" and refresh my memory on "protagonist" and "antagonist."

Geekin' ain't easy.

Got my speakers yesterday and unpacked them today. Showed up in overall good shape, but I'm surprised the seller wrapped gloss black speakers in cardboard and tape with no other protection.

I've seen the Samsung 830 series 128GB drives on sale at Newegg for around $85-89 a few times in the last month or so, have built several systems with them and I like them. Anand at anandtech.com has recommended them as Samsung has better quality control than other manufacturers that have had higher failure rates recently (seems to mostly be drives with a sandforce controller). He seems to know what he's talking about when it comes to SSDs too.

You can definitely tell the difference from a mechanical hard drive, but when I really noticed it was when I went back to a system without an SSD and was wondering what was wrong with it, and what that annoying sound the hard drive was making was all about.
