Tuba folded horn HT subwoofer build

Seriously, I have no life.
When I can get the wife and kid out of the house I'll get the rat shack SPL meter out and mess with the SMS-1 some more. Right now though, it's just a beast and like Dr. Mark said, just effortless bass.;)
Well done! I was certain this project would be a winner. I bet the amp doesn't break a sweat. No need for 20 amp or more circuits to be installed in your listening room!

Man, you did not mess around with this! You got it done in no time flat! I'm very impressed with that subwoofer. I would not get away with something like that. Although, my wife is a very talented quilter....:D

Thanks, I know it's an HUGE eyesore right now but hopefully soon I can get a finished laid on it weather it's a veneer or even something like duratex that they use for pro-speaker cabs.

Nice work - and fast too. I don't know anyone who built a folded horn like that.

Even if your wife hates it, you could always use it as a doghouse :D.

Got off work early today and spent some time Eq'ing the Beast. On the recommendation of Bill F. I turned it around to have the mouth of the horn facing the corner from about a foot away.

Before I turned it around you'll notice the dip around 63hz.

After facing the horn into the corner....lots of room gain appear as well!

EQ'd a bit.

Just an FYI as well, I'm still running the old 2.1 software (25hz limiter) on my SMS-1....haven't updated to the new 2.1.4 that moves the subsonic limiter to 5hz.

Ok, I did a quick test to see what the SMS-1 is doing to my LFE.

1st pic is through the EQ output:

2nd pic is bypassing the EQ using the "thru output"

Proof I'm still using the old software

I have my wife looking for a RS232 cable at Wal-Mart right now so I can do the update.:D Cause I'm getting ROBBED of sweet precious BASS!

I'm always impressed when someone builds their own stuff. Way to go, Matt!

If your wife tells you that either it goes or you go, I've got room at my place...for the sub. :D

Nice Matt I bet that stomps........
It's going to stomp more when I get this stupid software update installed.:D It really does, I think I'm more impressed with it's performance in music though....hard to describe but it just sounds more real.

Sweet monster there. I keep looking at designs that I could build into a wall...this design would definitely fit the bill. I'll have to put it into the pool when I actually get integratin...

Nice work.

That reminded me to look at my version and it is 2.1.3. What changed between that and 2.1.4?

From Velodynes software update page:

Velodyne said:
Version 2.1.4 enables two SMS-1's to run in a master slave mode (daisy-chained). The software synchronizes volume and preset settings with a refresh that updates the slave every few seconds. All SMS-1's can take advantage of the new features in release 2.1.4 and the software is provided to SMS-1 owners free of charge.
