DTS-HD MA & TrueHD Bitstream via ATI HD 5870 Video Card

Slyplayer looks great, but I don't want to be limited to just one player in order to get bitstreaming. Besides, the entry level 5000 series radeon cards will likely only be around $50 when they are released, then I won't have to rely on slyplayer. Not to mention slyplayer will require anydvd hd to run in the background. At least they are saying it will be a free program, likely because it requires anydvd hd to work, and you have to purchase that.
Yeah, SlyPlayer (SP) is just another option for us.:D

PDVD, TMT, & SP.:D

The powerdvd patch is out now... I can't wait for the cedar and redwood cards to be released so I can get my hands one one.

I can confirm that this patch does not allow for bitstreaming using the radeon 4xxx cards lol, you know I had to check to see if the option was even there, but it's not. I'm getting really anxious for the new mainstream 56xx cards to come out.

Well, you know I'm going to have to also confirm with my 4850 card tonight.:D

I have also read that you would actually have to have a movie playing in order to change it to the bitstream output, I think they call it non decoded HD audio or something similar. I will confirm that whenever I get my 5xxx card next year.

I tried the patch with my Saphire 4850 card, but the HD-audio did not work either.:D

So I just ordered the Saphire 5750 card from Amazon for $144.:D

You know one other thing I forgot to do was to UPDATE the latest ATI driver!

The latest version is 9.11 (for ATI HD 4800, 5700, & 5800 series), and the version I currently have is 9.6.

I will try this latest version with my 4850 card and report on the DTS-HD/TrueHD bitstream.:D

One other thing I noticed after installing the PDVD9 patch was that now the TrueHD soundtrack that was only playing DD 2.0 before is now playing DD 5.1.

With your new card you should try Win. 7 again. I have had 0 problems with Win. 7 so far concerning playback of blu rays using both PowerDVD 9 Ultra, and TMT 3.

Yeah, I might do that.

Well, I tried the new v9.11 ATI drivers, but still no DTS-HD bitstream on my ATI 4850 card.:D

I will report when I get my ATI 5750 card next week.:D

The audio output format need to manually select during BD playback to output as non decoded high defination audio pass through to AVR. This is kind of manual tedious process i don like about it. Other than that ... i am sactisfy with it :) compare to my PS3 (80g) BD playback which dont have the bitstream function.

Try out the clonedvd to rip the BD as iso and mount it with Virtual clonedrive and it works exactly like a BD playback. Tested ripping the BD(44gig) less than 30 mins with LiteOn 8x BD rom. Thats cool ! ;) Now i can have all my BD collection into HTPC and playback without the disk.

I tried the Saphire Radeon 5750 1GB on both of my HTPCs and I could not get either one to bitstream DTS-HD or TrueHD.

I installed the latest ATI driver and PDVD9 Ultra Patch.

But I could not get 2 things to work:

1) output as non decoded high defination audio pass through, and

2) scale the size of my screen display.

I'm using Vista Ultimate 32-bit.

Try it again using a fresh install of Win. 7.

The place where you adjust the scaling is in a different spot on the newer versions of CCC.

Yeah, I see what you mean on the display re-size scaling option. Why the heck did they have to CHANGE things like that and confuse me?:D

I'v been reading on the AVS site and it seems like this HDAudio bitstreaming only works on Windows 7!!!

Not a single case of Vista working with HD-audio bitstreaming.

Like they say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

It seems like A LOT of people have issues with this PDVD9 + ATI5xxx for HDAudio.

Well, I consider this BROKEN!!!:D

So Windows 7, here I come.

Let us know how it works out with Win. 7. I have no problems with Win. 7 64 or 32 bit playing back anything using both powerdvd 9 ultra and TMT 3. Of course I still don't have a radeon 5xxx card yet, but PCM works just dandy.
