The 5970 is out today, it looks like a beast, and should darn well be for it's $600+ price tag.

I think Virtual CloneDrive is so cool.

I burn ISO files (using ImgBurn) of games for my daughter on your laptop. Now she doesn't even have to physically load the discs. She just mounts the games with Virtual CloneDrive.

I know right... Just imagine the pc you would need to have to take full advantage of that card.
Yeah, and the size of that card is probably as big as a laptop.:D

Let's see, dual Intel 3.33GHz Core i7 975 Extreme processors for starters.

I'm drooling already.:eek::D

I just got my dell XPS 9000 with a Core i7 920 and 9 gigs of ram, and that thing is a beast. It encodes audio and video so fast, I love it.

Awesome!

How much did you pay?:D

How fast does it rip blu-ray to ISO image on anyDVD HD?

I got the base model with no upgrades, since dell charges waaaay too much for them, but with my employee discount and getting an extra 3% off that price for using my dell preferred acct., it was only $878 shipped and that includes tax. I then got a 6 gig ram kit from newegg and a 2 TB hard drive from newegg.

It doesn't rip blu rays any faster since that has to do with the drive itself, but the muxing is a bit quicker then the .iso creation in imgburn is a bit quicker too. But most of those processes aren't all that processor intensive, so they aren't really all that much faster. But when converting .flac to .mp3 and encoding video to ipod touch format it's extremely fast. I converted several albums from .flac to .mp3, the albums ranged for 12 to 16 tracks, and the longest conversion took 38 seconds, and that is using VBR on the highest quality settings using dbpoweramp.

Wow, so you just spent about $1,200+, and that doesn't even include the new Radeon 5xxx card you will be buying.:D

Why can't we all just stop spending money?:D

It came with a Radeon 4350, but I swapped that out with the card I used in my old primary desktop, a Nvidia 8600GTS. I don't think I'll upgrade the card since it does everything I need it do, and since I don't do any gaming. Now I will be upgrading both of my Radeon 4350s to the new low end Radeon 5xxx cards next year when they come out... gotta have my bitstream.

Yup. Must have the DTS-HD MA & Dolby TrueHD bitstreams.

Even today I still get a nice big grin on my face :D:D every time I see my receiver display "DTS-HD MASTR".

The PowerDVD DTS-HD/TrueHD Bitstream Patch is set for 27th.

But today, Nov 20th, all new customers will get this patch before anyone else.

Why is this, I wonder?

It's like they are saying, "Since we already have your money, we don't care that much about you. We only care about the brand new customers that will shell out $100 TODAY."

Maybe the "new" version will be available via other places before the 27th if you know what I mean. Not that I care since I don't have the capabilites to bitstream yet anyway, but I don't see why they just cant release the patch at the same time.

SlyPlayer & the Radeon 5xxx cards

Gents, if SlySoft releases the SlyPlayer, we might not need TMT3, PDVD, or the new Radeon 5xxx cards as long as the 4xxx cards have HDMI1.3?

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1155650

That would be cool since my Radeon 4850 might have HDMI1.3.:D

If not, then at least SlyPlayer will be another option for the Radeon 5xxx cards & DTS-HD/TrueHD bitstreaming.

This has been in the works for quite a while and is supposed to be free when it hits.

I hope this really works out, and soon... I'd love to not have to buy a new card. Wait, who am I kidding... I love upgrading my equipment! :D

Slyplayer looks great, but I don't want to be limited to just one player in order to get bitstreaming. Besides, the entry level 5000 series radeon cards will likely only be around $50 when they are released, then I won't have to rely on slyplayer. Not to mention slyplayer will require anydvd hd to run in the background. At least they are saying it will be a free program, likely because it requires anydvd hd to work, and you have to purchase that.
