Don't congrat me. I voted Harris. But it doesn't mean I'm incapable of seeing why the country is a red blanket.

Democrats are viewed as intellectual effete looking down on 52 out of every 100 people walking around them as 'common folk'.

That has a cost and, IMO, rightly so. If you're that level of asshole you should probably be rewarded for it.

So, is the view that 48 out of 100 people are 'intellectual effete' any more accurate?

In the end, 52 is still a larger number than 48, so that view wins. But, it also means that many voters ignored policy platforms.

I don't think they held a distorted view of the situation. Gas was $2. Grocery price inflation etc. They think Trump can do better economically. However, I'm sure his behavior is rolled into it as well. Ugh.

It's not any more accurate. As you pointed out the plural of platform it's many things. I'm personally not going to vilify anyone for voting what they think best.

My treatment has been far less than satisfactory and from others with various ailments, their experiences are on par (or worse, ending in death) while others have had very different/much better outcomes.

As far as OB/GYN, I have no experience with that but if the DR in the case where the woman died, I have a few questions- Why was there a 12 hour gap between onset of problems and treatment? Why did the DR not do an ultrasound, at the least? Why did they not refer her to someone else, who might have wanted to provide adequate and proper care?

I have a gigantic problem with anyone in medicine who holds off proper treatment for ANY reason and if they do it because their religion prohibits it, I want them gone from medicine. Or government, education, etc. TX has a lot of hard core 'God will strike you down' followers who are absolutely unwilling to change their views and it's not limited to TX- the Bible Belt is a very bizarre place.

I don't know the limits in other states, but Wisconsin allows $750K in damages for medical malpractice, so if a DR does nothing, they need to keep their mouths shut if they made a bad diagnosis.

That certainly plays into it, but it's not the whole story. It has only been a week and the analysis will take more time. It's not just that voters turned to Trump. Many progressives and members of ethnic communities stayed home, because Harris' was perceived as too centrist and/or supportive of Israel.

No question that the Democrats messaging needs work, but many GOP voters and Democrat non-voters have to take some ownership for what they've done. If they prefer to be infantilized and told what they want to hear - even if its BS - that's on them.

At first glance, it seems condescending to declare that voters made the wrong choice because they didn’t know any better. However, on every major issue, voters were fundamentally misinformed and insisting otherwise won’t improve Democrats’ chances in future elections. Democratic politicians and liberals need to quickly discover some way to engage in this Orwellian information environment. Otherwise, all the self-flagellation about messaging failures and policy changes won’t amount to much.
