Ok got all my stuff. Is seems that most of the time when you look really forward to something you are in some way disappointed in some way but not this time. Wife and I set a limit of 6K and I went from there. At this point don't know if the audio or the video are more outstanding. Biggest problem is trying to figure out how to make it simple enough for the females to operate. Any ideas on that? Also redecorated.
Setup Scenes...probably the simplest would be to get a Harmony remote.

Yes been thinking about that. How do you put a list of your equipment on the bottom?

I think one thing is to set up the SCENES. For example, you can program SCENE-1 for Blu-Ray and Straight Sound and rename Scene-1 as “Blu-Ray”.

Now all they have to do is get their phones, open up the MusicCast app. Hit Power. Hit Scene-1 Blu-Ray. Turn on the Blu-Ray player. Hit Play.

Just setting mine up now, Can you guys turn your receiver on by touching the top right edge of the panel/glass?

Don’t know about that. But I did try something that I think was cool. I have an ATV 4K. I said to my phone, hey Siri, play Christmas music on Apple TV. It turned on my tv, AVR, ATV and started playing. I thought that was fun.

I had a similar situation, was watching, over the air tv, and wanted to watch Netflix, on my tv remote there is a button Google Assistant you hold it down, I spoke Google play Netflix, and tv switching to Netflix and said, play Lost in Space season 2 episode 3, AVR switched to HDMI 1and Dolby Vision on TV popped up pretty cool.

Mine doesn’t seem to turn on when I touch it. I am ok with that. It seems with my new Apple TV you could maybe run your entire system.

I wasn’t able to get my A8A to turn on that way. Maybe there’s some setting I deactivated? No big deal, though. I don’t want to risk getting fingerprints on the thing—it‘s much to beautiful for that.

Are you sure you didn't mean foot prints? :D

Is there no way to access the options menu via the receivers built-in display like you could on the older receivers?

Imagine one morning when Siri wakes you up and says: "Good morning. I have put a cattle on. Remember to count your calorie intake. If you take more than 2000 colories today, you won't be able to reach your optimal target".

Question: How do I get Atmos out of the "Tidal" source built into the A6A? It works from the LG TV into the A6A, but it doesn't work when I choose Tidal as the source in the A6A.
LG app on TV as source (works):
My LG TV has a Tidal app that does play Atmos. In the LG app, I pick a track that has "Dolby Atmos." The display on the A6A shows "Atmos/DD+" and the MusicCast app shows “Dolby Atmos/Dolby Digital Plus 48kHz”.

Tidal as source in the A6A (no atmos):
When I launch Tidal as the "Source" in the A6A, it displays the decoding as "AAC" and the output channels as Front (with subfwoofer if "Extra Bass" is on). That's with the TV off (so HDMI/ARC isn't the issue). Turning the TV and displaying "Information" from the A6A shows:
  • Input: Format AAC. Channel: 2.0. Sampling: 22.05kHz.
  • Output: Channel 2.1.0 (with L and R as the only speakers in use).

The A6A is set to "Straight" with 5.1 speakers connected, and no secondary zones. Tried using MusicCast to log out of Tidal and log back in after changing my subscription level.
Am I missing something?

My Apple Spatial sound works only on HDMI through Apple TV. If I try to play it by Airplay it is only stereo. I doubt that is working through streaming due to bitrate necessary to play Atmos.

Thanks. If I understand correctly, the AirPlay in the A6A is merely receiving the signal from another device that has Apple Music, whereas the Tidal source built into the A6A works without another device. So I expected the high-res formats to work (since it isn't streaming bits from another device).

Is it normal to get a slight pop sound from your speakers when turn the amp on, I get it on the second click of the relay switch?

Anyone try amazon music to get their Atmos music working on the a8a? I gather A6A would be the same

I am not familiar with your specific issue but one thought comes to mind. Have you checked your settings in the MusicCast app itself to see if something is turned off?

No. It's a bug. I have it too, also when turning off, when changing sources, when changing from Atmos to other format, etc. I signaled it to Yamaha.
