He is a case study in what's wrong with our judicial system. He tried previously to run over the mother of his child not to mention a laundry list of other crimes and the 'system' lets him back on the street ?? !! This kind of poop boils my blood, grrrrrrr
Finally, someone is calling for the resignation of the MKE County DA- he doesn't have competition in elections, so it's hard to see an end to his kind of political influence on that office.
MKE is stagnant. Nothing changes in political offices unless someone dies, leaves after a scandal or finds some way to grab the golden ring. They tell people what's good for them and talk
at them, rather than with them.
- MKE has had nine District Attorneys in its history, 1848-present.
- MKE has elected ZERO Republican Mayors since 1916.
- MKE has elected FOUR Mayors since 1948.
- MKE has had many scandals in city and county government.
- MKE is called "the most segregated city in America".
- MKE used to be called 'The Machine Shop Of The World", but since many industries have become smaller, companies closed, outsourced to other countries (for many reasons, including environmental concerns) but the city hasn't been able to attract enough industries and companies to employ enough people to keep them off of government assistance and some degree of a dignified life.
- MKE has had terrible unemployment among Black males for decades.
Milwaukee has also paid millions in settlements due to a lack of oversight into Police officer mental health, which has resulted in many civilian deaths, beatings and other problems. The County board was recalled after they signed off for a pension system that allowed county employees to take a lump sum retirement payment PLUS their regular pension, which is still being funded through property taxation throughout the county, including the area where I live.
They can't spend money fast enough, but they also don't put money where it's needed. They're too eager to use TIF financing for construction projects that make some areas look 'pretty' where people can see it from the freeways, but leave the rest of the city to rot. Anyone who has driven more than a couple of blocks away from the freeways knows what I mean and all someone would need to do to see it if they're not coming here is go to one of the map websites (google maps, etc) and click on Street View. They pour money into all kinds of costly programs that barely scratch the surface of effectiveness, rather than find something for people to do that would make this a better place. Nobody really wants to live in an area where trash is laying all over the ground, but that's EXACTLY what MKE has. People toss full bags of fast food trash (including uneaten 'food') out of car windows, which ends up feeding the rat population, costs more money in pest control, decreases the self esteem of the residents and it has become a downward spiral effect.
The city needs to pay people to help in cleaning it up- they have cut finding for the DPW, so they won't be doing it, hell- they can't even find enough people to operate snow plow trucks for the upcoming Winter.
MKE- it's circling the drain.
