I think that too many people are trying to cover their asses, so they do nothing because it would affect their future. It's the main reason I think Congress and much of the government needs to be re-tooled, to reflect the basics of how the country is supposed to operate. The problem is, there's almost no agreement in "how it's supposed to operate", either in each party or between the parties. They have wandered so far from home that they forgot where they lived and because they didn't leave any bread crumbs, they're going to have a hard time returning. This is going to take time and reactionary political parties aren't the way to do it. Neither party wants to work with the other and that's wrong- country comes first, party comes much farther down the list.

I don't know your party affiliation, but it sucks to be in the position where neither party aligns with my beliefs. I guess I could register as 'Independent', but no independent has a chance of going far. I hope this will cause more registered Republicans to join the independent movement and some decent candidates come along/move toward a more sensible line of thinking. The general trend has been for someone to appear to offer good ideas and after a few polls and debates, they go off the rails into crazy town.

I hate politics- it proves that politicians are complete whores.

Bottom line though, in my opinion, the capital police were completely unprepared, which is inexcusable, considering this whole incident was telegraphed way before it happened.

Perspective tells you ,or at least it does me, being a whore is a questionable crime .. Political insurrection not so much...we ARE the government and as responsible citizens have a duty to pick the best candidate , not the perfect candidate.. We can work on making the democracy better , it's hard to rebuild one...

Am I the only one who is thinking that DeVos and Chao are resigning so they won't have to vote on invoking the 25th amendment? And now I hear that Trump's lawyer is thinking of resigning. If he is impeached he will not have time for legal counsel to properly represent him at a trial. All ways to dodge culpability.

Trumps greatest talent over the years has been his ability to stay out of jail.

The Republicans need to reclaim their party. There are too many of them that are aligned with Trump. When the desire to win supersedes doing what’s is right, you capitulate.

Blacks, People of Color, Liberals, stole something from you, cheated you out of what’s rightfully yours, you need to take it back!

Even now you have Republicans that do not want to back away from Trump. This is bigger than conservative values. Trump told you before he took office, I could shoot someone on Main Street and they will still support me....think about this.

it is amazing that I can look out my door and still see Trump flags and placards...and new American flags.
