Seriously, I have no life.
Perspective tells you ,or at least it does me, being a whore is a questionable crime .. Political insurrection not so much...we ARE the government and as responsible citizens have a duty to pick the best candidate , not the perfect candidate.. We can work on making the democracy better , it's hard to rebuild one...
I';m not saying it's a crime, just a poor choice of traits to embrace in a profession.

We aren't the government- we select who will represent us in the government. Try to walk in and tell them what you want them to do, or what you want for the country- I suspect you're going to be escorted out, just as anyone else who's not a member of Congress would.

Not enough people are engaged in what's happening in the country- we hear and see a lot of noisy people, but it's not the majority of the population. A lot of people have never voted and if you look at election results since 2000, the total votes for the last POTUS election was over 50% higher than in 2000 and in 2004 and 2008, the totals rose steadily, but slipped in 2012. 2020 had over 22% more votes case than in 2016.

I don't think we need to rebuild the Republic, but Congress is very disfunctional, IMO.

I hope the House passes the impeachment bill if for nothing else to put pressure on the Republicans in Senate to pass it. Ultimately so Trump can never hold office again.

I think his not holding office in the future is the definition of 'foregone conclusion'.

Yeah they said the same thing about Hitler after the Beer Hall Putsch in Munich, in 1923.

How'd that work out?

Well the Republicans don't want to pass it because they benefit from the votes from Trump's base. By passing it in the House you put it on their lap as well as assuring with 100% certainty he can never run again. I don't think Joe wants that though because the bill wouldn't pass till he's in office. He wants to start fresh.

Talk about strange ... both of them ... bedfellows.

I've never understood how a 'pointy-head' from Princeton of Cuban descent, via Canada, who clerked at the Supreme Court, became a senator from Texas anyway. Where's the commonality and shared history there with ordinary Texans?

Of course his wife being a former high officer/partner in CITI Bank didn't hurt, when it came to money. Look at his votes on banking regulations after the Great Recession of 2008.

Another 'guy' who needs to be brought up on sedition charges
.

He needed a muzzle before- they could also let him roam in a field, somewhere.

I agree but highly doubt it's gonna happen with 11 days left in his tenure and the Republicans need of his racist base in future elections.

Big hat, big talk, no cattle as they say in Texas.

Why any working man & woman in this country would vote for Republicans has always baffled me anyway; voting against their own self-interests.

I have to disagree with the " we aren't the govt " thought... That's actually the model the founding fathers sought.. And our leaders come from every corner and economic background of the country..The "walking into Congress" doesn't even enter my thoughts , there are all sorts of platforms.. Social insecurity is much of what the rioters displayed to me.. In general i would consider many to be misfits who needed a place to land because they are unable to properly function as contributors to society... iow dipsh*** with no social graces...

I guess we're using different definitions of 'government'- I mean it as 'people who are elected to represent us, with input from the citizens to be used for creating/modifying legislation'. IMO, they're doing a piss-poor job.

They demonstrably are in many cases , but if the fix is trump as a dictator, Well I'm all for a second Revolution.. Not this phony white privilege sniveling that's going on now...Edit : random thought... As the first ruling generation after the generation that saved the world , the whiny pissants that roam the halls of govt are what we created as a society... We had it waaay too easy and had too much handed to us .. We haven't handled prosperity well .. We created trump as an icon, now we have to fix the mess...
