I think that too many people are trying to cover their asses, so they do nothing because it would affect their future. It's the main reason I think Congress and much of the government needs to be re-tooled, to reflect the basics of how the country is supposed to operate. The problem is, there's almost no agreement in "how it's supposed to operate", either in each party or between the parties. They have wandered so far from home that they forgot where they lived and because they didn't leave any bread crumbs, they're going to have a hard time returning. This is going to take time and reactionary political parties aren't the way to do it. Neither party wants to work with the other and that's wrong- country comes first, party comes much farther down the list.
I don't know your party affiliation, but it sucks to be in the position where neither party aligns with my beliefs. I guess I could register as 'Independent', but no independent has a chance of going far. I hope this will cause more registered Republicans to join the independent movement and some decent candidates come along/move toward a more sensible line of thinking. The general trend has been for someone to appear to offer good ideas and after a few polls and debates, they go off the rails into crazy town.
I hate politics- it proves that politicians are complete whores.
