Does Denon call it something else? :D
Haha. Yes. See treb’s post
Literally everyone calls everything something different from Yamaha! It’s one of the things that drives me bonkers about them. They do offer solid performance and I even own some Yamaha gear, but man…..speaking Yamaha is annoying. Lol

2.0 signal + Large Speaker Setting + Straight mode + Extra Bass ON = The low frequencies in 2.0 signals are copied to the Subwoofer and sound IS output from the Subwoofer
Anyway, I personally think this is the best setting for me.

It only redirects the bass to the Subs for 2.0 if the front L/R speakers are set to SMALL.

If you set the speakers to LARGE, you do NOT get redirected bass UNLESS you turn EXTRA BASS to ON.

Still, it’s too bad Yamaha doesn’t have LFE+Main for my Karaoke. :D

Now, is there a way to also COPY the LOW BASS to the Surrounds and Rear speakers in Straight Mode if they are big full range speakers with dual 10” woofers or bigger?

When speakers are set to Large, the low frequencies of 2.0 signals are not technically redirected but rather copied to the subwoofer as they will still be output from the Front Large speakers as well. This would also be the case when using All-CH Stereo with all speakers set to Large.

Yamaha Extra Bass
2.0: Send Bass to FRONT Large Speakers AND Sub
11.0: Send Bass to ALL Large Speakers AND Sub
5.1: Send Bass to Sub AND ALL Large Speakers (Front, Surround, Rear)
