Does Denon call it something else? :D
Haha. Yes. See treb’s post
Literally everyone calls everything something different from Yamaha! It’s one of the things that drives me bonkers about them. They do offer solid performance and I even own some Yamaha gear, but man…..speaking Yamaha is annoying. Lol

Yeah, straight uses redirected bass?

2.0 signal + Large Speaker Setting + Straight mode + Extra Bass ON = The low frequencies in 2.0 signals are copied to the Subwoofer and sound IS output from the Subwoofer
Anyway, I personally think this is the best setting for me.

It only redirects the bass to the Subs for 2.0 if the front L/R speakers are set to SMALL.

If you set the speakers to LARGE, you do NOT get redirected bass UNLESS you turn EXTRA BASS to ON.

Still, it’s too bad Yamaha doesn’t have LFE+Main for my Karaoke. :D

Now, is there a way to also COPY the LOW BASS to the Surrounds and Rear speakers in Straight Mode if they are big full range speakers with dual 10” woofers or bigger?

When speakers are set to Large, the low frequencies of 2.0 signals are not technically redirected but rather copied to the subwoofer as they will still be output from the Front Large speakers as well. This would also be the case when using All-CH Stereo with all speakers set to Large.

Yamaha Extra Bass
2.0: Send Bass to FRONT Large Speakers AND Sub
11.0: Send Bass to ALL Large Speakers AND Sub
5.1: Send Bass to Sub AND ALL Large Speakers (Front, Surround, Rear)

The reason for the replacement is the receiver developed random popping every so often. I sent it in twice but never got it resolved. It's not awful but enough for me to move on. This is the first Yamaha that has given me a problem. I will probably buy the RZ70 from Crutchfield so if it turns out I don't like it I can send it back for a Yamaha.
Well crap! Found out that it wasn't a problem with the Yamaha. It turns out that the circuit it was on was the problem. Oh well I'm very happy I got the Onkyo. Now if i ever have an issue with the Onkyo I can fall back on the Yamaha. LOL

You can't be certain of that. All 4 ohm loads are not created equal as I suspect you know by now. You can not make an assessment without knowing which speakers and a graph of phase angles and impedance with frequency. Without that it is like throwing a dart blindfolded.

Designing reliable systems is not that simple.
I concur with TLS on this statement. Without knowing a speakers impedance curve (an impedance needs both the resistive and reactive part AS WELL AS the phase angle ) and its corresponding phase angle thru the entire frequency range, then it is just like throwing darts.

Hi All

What to buy to replace Yamaha RX3000

We have two rooms and in the second room the Yamaha RXA 3000 Av receiver (16 YEARS OLD) is probably due for replacement. I have just replaced the plasma Full HD TV with a 4K Samsung Oled. The 3000 is not 4K, and does not have Blu tooth, or wifi and it no longer responds to the remote control. I use a 4K Apple Tv and occasionally a Blu Ray or 4K movie connected directly to the TV and use ARC to connect TV audio to the 3000 receiver. I tried to plug the 3000 into a router using ethernet cable and tried to connect using the AV controller App. It found the name of the 3000 but would not connect. I also used a laptop and tried to connect to the IP address of the 3000 but it did not find it .

In the main cinema room I have a Yamaha 5200, been very happy with it for 8 years, using it as 7 base layers speakers and 4 Atmos ceiling speakers with separate power amps, including a higher quality amp for front left and right speakers when I want to listen to music.

Looking at replacing or using the 3000 with either another second hand 5200 and then using the multi channel pre input into the 3000 as a amplifiers. 5200 are hard to find second hand and some of the older Marantz AV processors are either very expensive or measure very poorly on Audiobolics or AVR bench tests. I am considering buying a Yamaha RX A6A, reasonably priced and seem very capable. I am a little concerned about the Audioholics bench test results and poor results with distortion and sinad when using digital inputs. I wonder from people who own the A6 if that is a issue in real world use. I tried to find the full review of the A6 on Audioholics with information about listening tests but could not find it.

Welcome any real world feedback on the Doly Atmos sound and picture quality of the A6 in general terms and even better is someone can comment on the Yamaha CX A-5200 compare to A6 , for home movies streamed through Netflix, Amazon Prime and physical Blu ray and 4K disc Yamaha RxAa6A

I could swap the 5200 into the second room and replace it with the A6. I did have a thought that perhaps a Marantz AV 30 Av processor might be an option to replace the 5200, but it is nearly double the cost of the Yamaha A6
