I would have to second the House of the Dead as the worst movie ever to make it out to theatres. I should have taken the hint when it made it to DVD about a month after its theatrical release. How did they get 8 hrs of suck into an 80 min. movie? 
To me this movie introduces the phrase pathetasuck into the vernacular.

Oh, come on, it is so readily apparent that there is only one movie even close to being considered the Worst Movie Ever (well, maybe 2. "Catwoman" comes to mind), and that movie is 'Manos' the Hands of Fate. I urge you all to rent, watch, study, and memorize this movie. You think you've seen bad, you think you've seen dud, you have seen nothing until you feast your eyes on the cinematic train-wreck that is 'Manos'. It's so bad that writer/director/producer/actor/fertilizer salesman Hal Warren denied it even existed until somebody unearthed it shortly before his death. It's so bad that it was heckled so relentlessly during it's local El Paso premier that most of the cast and crew snuck out of the darkened theater before the movie was even half-way through. It's so bad that you have to wonder if it's the driving reason three of the stars of the movie committed suicide within a year of completing the film. It's so bad that it will probably make you look at Gigli in a new light. It's so bad that it's not even good, it's just a lot worse. You must see 'Manos' before you can ever be allowed to invoke such titles as "Natural Born Killers" or "Last House on the Left". Trust me, true believer, you will not thank me for recommending this movie...

Wow, it really is a 'House of the Dead', seeing as John Reynolds (Torgo) killed himself in 1966. *is scared*. No, I jest, I've never seen HotD (not that I ever intend[ed] to) though, so I don't know in what capacity you were referring to Torgo's cameo. I'm guess now that you meant that he made a cameo in 'character' form (a different actor playing the character), I just thought it'd be weird for them to have a suddenly unexplained satyr in the movie (unless they explained him, which really is actually a bit weirder when I think about it). If you meant that it was indeed the man who played Torgo, than I'd have to say that you're probably mistaken/misinformed, unless they brought in an actual corpse for 'realism' .
(I apologize if any of that seemed 'harsh' or 'insulting' or anything, it was a joke and meant to be read with tongue firmly in cheek)

Worste horror flick would be: I spit on your grave!
And although I loved the movie as a young spiked punk, except for the music: Suburbia was pretty bad
Napolean Enima was a worthless piece of time! It would have a funny part then 35 mins of bore!
Also, my wife had Staying Alive on and she's says check this out..it was like a car wreck! ...I need to go look at naked chicks, chew tobacco, drink old crow and wash the chick flickness of that movie off of me! I almost felt violated!
98% of stallones movies are unwatchable! Except for rambo 1, 2, Rocky 1 and 2... and Cobra was ok.

Battlefield Earth - without a doubt the worst ever. Forrest Whitaker won't even list it on his resume. It's so bad it's almost worth watching just to ridicule it.
Let me make my case for this movie being the worst ever:
Aliens conquer the Earth in only 19 minutes. They spend 1000 years stripping it's resources, gold being the resource they want most. Yet they never look in Fort Knox!
After a 1000 years, Harrier fighter jets and their weapons left sitting around work perfectly.
After a 1000 years human slaves who barely know what fire is suddenly learn how to operate flight simulators, which also still work perfectly. After one session the caveman-like slaves learn how to fly the jets. Of course they can now completely out-fly the aliens ships.
One of the humans steals a gun from an alien and kills him, and when the aliens catch him they can't believe it. So what do they do? They hand the loaded gun back to him and let him kill another alien!
One of the humans finds the ruins of a library. Of course the 1000 year old books are still in perfect condition, and he somehow knows how to read them.
The whole movie is full of examples like these. How this movie didn't kill John Travolta's career for good I'll never know.

It's simple, it didn't kill Travolta's career because it was based on a "novel" by L. Ron Hubbard of Scientology infamy, and Hollywood is literally riddled with Scientologists these days. Of course, that is a subject for another thread.
Regardless, I also consider Battlefield Earth the current holder of the Unbearable Stench in Cinema award. It narrowly wins over (under?) K-Pax. Ye gods, what was that?

What about Airport 79...you know , the one with the Concorde ! I agree about Battlefield Earth being in the bottom of the barrel but at less Battlefield Earth had some good special effect

Not to distract from the subject at hand, but special effects cannot be considered as the sole (as it would be in the case of Battlefield Earth) basis of determination for a films' merit. Consider The Legend of Jeremiah Johnson: simply a classic in every respect, however, there is not much in the way of special effects unless you include trained grizzly bears. One may (regretably) contrast this with The Legend of Bagger Vance, which is odious in every respect, any special effects notwithstanding.

bad movies...
Nobody even mentioned David Caruso in Session 9....
I saw it on a rental DVD, it was so lame, it must have been one of those straight-to-rent movies... a Psycho Thriller with definitely with no thrill...it's about the past of some abandoned Mental Hospital but the sub-plots were more detailed than the actual storyline...
I agree with a lot of the posts, I had forgotten how many horrible movies have been made and picking a worst ever movie simply doesn't exist because just when you have found the worst one, guess what? another 'worst' just showed up. Part of the problem is that Hollywood doesn't have an original bone in its body, it's all the same regurgitated stuff over and over again.
If you wait 5 more minutes I'm sure another bad movie is about to be released very soon....lol
I guess it's par for the course, if you want to see some good movies you have to risk seeing some bad ones...
That why I rent more than I go to the movie theater - My DVD player has an Eject button...

Few brain , one question and 10 page later of thread and we still discover old and new in the category of "Worst movie ever made"; some one should send this list of thread to hollywood. Maybe it would help minimise the number of bad one who make it on the market ! Because I don't think that we are done scratching the surface yet

I guess bad is relative...
I've seen bad movies...but many, like "Plan 9 from Outer Space" were meant to be bad. Others...like Aliens 3 and Batman and Robin were big budget sequels that flopped which is not too surprising.
When I think of a bad movie, I usually think of movies that are highly regarded by many, make a ton a "best of..." lists and I leave the theatre
thinking "WTF", did I just miss something? The two that I recall best fit that category were "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" and "The English Patient".
Every review I read raved about these flicks and I usually like well reviewed movies but I found both of these movies boring as hell. I actually walked out of the English Patient. It's not the genre either. I love obscure foreign films with subtitles(City of God, Perros de Amores, Man Bites Dog), I love epics (Lawrence of Arabia, Dr. Zhivago, Giant). But I couldn't get into either of these flicks.
Another movie I saw recently that disappointed me based on great reviews was "Sideways". Now that certainly wasn't a bad movie...in fact I'd say it was OK...but based on the reviews I read (and the fact it was nominated for Best Picture) I was expecting more than just a slightly better than average
buddy/road movie. I saw it as kind of a thinking mans "Dumb and Dumber".
Oh well...I guess that's why you always have to see for yourself and you can't trust reviewers! There have been movies that been panned horribly by critics (and friends of mine) that I've really enjoyed. "Artificial Intelligence" and "Magnolia" come to mind.

Can anyone recall the name of the movie that had Dan Akroyd and Chevy Chase in it, and the plot basically revolves around a sort of haunted house that this couple gets trapped in? It's incredibly gross, and totally unfunny, except for being funny for being so bad. It shows up regularly on lists of worst movies of all time. When you first see this movie, your mouth is hanging open the entire time you're watching, at the sheer awfulness of it.
