Much more fun in four wheel drive is mount Baldy (local name) next to Pikes Peak, the top is gated off though. The short gated road is just a side trail and the main trail goes on past the gated stub and comes out at some reservoirs. You can go across the road that leads to the main road road and drive up the creek on the other side (frozen fun) (Beware there is a, hopefully still blocked offside stub trail that is only really climbable by heavily modded 4WDs, that I do NOT recommend and might be private land.
There are some rougher/funner? side trails like Eagle Rock road.. in the area.
Note; these trails/ jeep roads have a risk of body damage (both to your self and the vehicle), they can be especially thrilling in the winter due to the off camber slide slippery nature of some spots.after the first snow. I recommend proper preparation including good mud tiers before going snow wheeling (there is no legal mud but all terrain tires are for the street and can pack up in the snow/mud, IMO).
Enjoy!
