Yes, in other forums they talk wonders about SVS, and how can you walk over water, and turn water into wine after hearing a PB-10 or PB-12. Personally, my experience have been the same as yours, have never auditioned.
Walk on water? Man, I got screwed then...
[SVS Experience]
I previously owned a 20-39 PCi (bought it back in 2005) and it was my first delve into a decent subwoofer ($300+). While I didn't experiene any "spiritual" issues, I was quite impressed with it's performance and while ~$600 isn't cheap by any stretch, I've since heard/owned/demo'ed/built quite a few other subs and for the money, that is one heck of a sub.
As far as dealing w/SVS, I ordered it online, received a couple of confirmation and shipping e-mails and it was delivered in less than a week (there boxes are damn big). I didn't ask too many questions of them and they didn't bother me, just the way I like it.

The next time I dealt w/them is when I upgraded the ISD driver on it when the NSD drivers came out, it was promptly shipped w/easy install directions, no fuss no muss. Lastly, I let a friend use the old ISD driver in a 20-39 PCi clone and he ended up overdriving it causing the VC to scrape when moving, so I contacted them one Sunday evening to see if I could have it repaired. They got back to me within a couple of hours (Tom Vodhanel in fact, the 'V' of SVS) and said b/c it was still under warranty, they'd replace it with a new NSD. That was pretty damn cool, didn't cost me a thing and I had the upgraded driver.

That's my only dealings directly with SVS, but as you can see, it was fairly positive. No water into wine, so I still feel kinda screwed on that one, but whadda ya gonna do...
Meanwhile, back at the Hall Of Justice (aka TSC thread), it would be interesting to give a pair of TSC's bookshelf speakers a test run, considering the only cost would be return shipping if you weren't too impressed. The ability to test these out in your own listening area is a great option and should definitely be taken advantage of for those looking at bookshelf purchases... -TD
