Perlisten D215s: Is This the Most Accurate Subwoofer on the Planet?

If max SPL is not important and music/stereo is primary (90%) purpose of the system - does 2x D215s has any advantages over 2x D212s?

The room is 40 m2 and current 2x SVS SB16 Ultra have more than enough headroom.

The cost is not an issue - the difference is small, but the size of (dual) D212s is much more (living) room friendly.

p.s. I've asked the same question on several forums - since there are not so many Perlisten subs owners out there.

I would guess that the D215s is very similar sounding to the D212s at nominal drive levels. I think the primary advantage of the D215s is headroom and a bit more low-frequency extension.

Thanks. I've watched it. Great review.

With 4 of them - I would easily have to find another home :D

Thanks.

I don't mind if I lose A little in the lowest freqs which are not important for the 99.9% of music material - I wouldn't like to lose any of the speed, texture, kick...

BTW, my main stereo speakers are Dynaudio Confidence 50. I don't use high pass filter for stereo - I tried several times, but don't like it. For current subwoofers (SB16's) I use cascading low pass filters at 90/100 Hz - 24 db/oct on subs + 12 db/oct on Minidsp Flex. I read a lot that people complain about SB16 performance with music (a little slow and "boomy") - the additional 12 db/oct makes the difference. With this config I'm very satisfied, but if it can be even better - why not.

There are 3 presets for PEQs, but what about other settings?
Are other settings associated to particular input or it's the same for all inputs?
If it's the same - does the application has export/import option for all settings?

Presets on SVS are for all settings - which is very useful when sub is used both in stereo and HT systems. My settings are completely different for these two usages.

You can download and read the D series manual. The app‘s description regarding DSP control is more comprehensive and complex than the SVS. For instance, You have 3 memory banks and each has 10 PEQ bands from 16-200hz. So lots of options in addition to three preloaded room EQ settings

I already have read the manual, but cannot try the app before my subs arrive.

From what I've read, 3 "memory banks" are only for PEQs - on SVS "memory banks" are for all settings: PEQs, crossover, phase, gain...

I do have miniDSP Flex, but it has only two inputs - I use it only for stereo at the moment. For HT I would need one more Flex.

BTW, even room EQ settings that you've mentioned I'll probably use different settings for stereo (connected to stereo preamp): small room for minimum group delay - and for HT (connected to AVR): THX or large room.

Sorry then I can’t help you as I use the Trinnov’s presets for configuration changes. Perhaps a dealer could answer?

SVS does have a good reputation for answering questions about their products
