An obvious (but not necessarily correct) answer is that he wants to direct media attention away from the economy and the Epstein files. I'm not sure, of course, it might be that he likes flaunting his power (my impression is that his ego requires constant feeding).

I'm not the first person to notice, but the Trump administration seems to care a lot more about the treatment of protestors in Iran than the protestors here in the U.S.

In some ways, the rhetoric coming from the Trump administration is remarkably similar to the rhetoric from the government of Iran.

Blanche has been over the top:

>>>"Minnesota insurrection is a direct result of a FAILED governor and a TERRIBLE mayor encouraging violence against law enforcement. It's disgusting," Blanche posted on X. "Walz and Frey -- I'm focused on stopping YOU from your terrorism by whatever means necessary. This is not a threat. It's a promise."<<< (emphasis added)

As has Kristi Noem*

>>>Within hours of the shooting, the Department of Homeland Security and Noem labeled Good's actions an "act of domestic terrorism" before any investigation.<<< (emphasis added)

The president of Iran has also referred to terrorists:

>>>“They have trained some people inside and outside the country; they have bought in some terrorists from outside,”<<< (emphasis added)

The chief justice of Iran has also been using the T word:

>>>Iran’s chief justice, Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei, said on Thursday that the prosecution of “rioters” would be carried out swiftly, according to the state broadcaster. He added that individuals linked to “foreign intelligence services and their handlers,” and those who directed “rioters and terrorists” would be prioritized for prosecution and punishment.<<< (emphasis added)

Granted, the Trump administration hasn't killed 1,800 people here in the U.S., but some of the rhetoric is over the top.

*I find myself wondering when Kristi Nome's face is going to melt and fall off.

Yes, that was a nod of sorts to Raiders of the Lost Ark.
The distraction theory did cross my mind, but just seems too obvious. But then, Trump isn't the deepest of thinkers, so it may just be as simple as that.

The wild accusations coming from the administration are certainly over the top. Could be a tactic commonly attributed to Joseph Goebbels - "repeat a lie often enough and it becomes the truth".

When it comes to drumphy and distraction, everything he does is a distraction to an extent no matter the subject. Wild accusations without fact/truth has never slowed this schmuck down.
