Yeah, making new friends every day. When do we get to go to the playground. OOPS shouldn't have said that.....
See below...
Doh!!!!!!! Our evil plot is foiled. I don't wanna spread the love!

I'm with you Buckle-meister. I would have a hard time giving someone a negative unless they were attacking me personally (of course, I probably would have prevoked it :D ). I suppose if someone is giving really bad advice that is just completely wrong it is justified too. But you could simply point that out in the thread they were posting on.

I like the green dots. I have no Idea how I got so high up but I promise not to abuse my newly imagined authority ;) . I think that this is a fun idea. Seriously, who's worried about getting green squares? When I first saw them I thought they were in regards to who spent the most time on the site. I was thinking it was time to lay low for a while. I have to admit that I'm pretty flattered to start so high.

My one thing is I think Buckeye should have more squares. Without sounding like too much of a suckup he's practically the unofficial mod IMO. I'm sure in just a little time he'll be up there. There are certain guys on the site that will be glowing green in no time for all the help/info/stories they put out there. I'm going to save negative votes for flaming wars only, or for Nomas the next time he zings me because of my own stupidity :p . As for worrying about who's giving out the bad info there are enough guys on this site who know what they're talking about (me excluded) that will ensure poor posters don't get rewarded.

The thought is like a big brain splinter!!!!
I do not like them, it's been said.
I wish they would be gone instead.
I sit at work. It's just not fair.
I've only got one stinkin' square.

To me, it has the feel of 'back-stabbing'. If I disagree with somebody that strongly, I'll speak to them about it directly.

I think its more childish, and obviously the person is not worth wasting your time. I have seen some of the post of mine, that are given negative. And seriously it must be spite. Once again, its all just a popularity game....

.....maybe it's a prompt to USE the system, so petty back-stabbing would be swamped by mature reactions....ok, why not, here we go, how many positives can we give a day?....

.....WmAx, my friend, Buckle just asked you to make every attempt to put it in laymen's terms....we understand you have read MUCH, acquired components, used components, tweaked components, discounted scammery, and that you proudly own a Sony clock-radio, haha, good one, tied Privateer in knots.....

Hmmm. . .

Little green squares didn't sound interesting as a title. I thought it was about some hyperintelligent chip or something - "This one's GREEN!!!". But, I see we are now being classified. This is another tool to differentiate the elite from the bums. Of course I'd be much more accepting if I got picked first in recess, but I got one crappy square.

My prediction - aside from the obvious class- and popularity-scores we're all starting out with, this Will be a measure of time spent and popularity. Mostly, number of posts will be determinative. People will be much more eager to post a positive score and nothing relating to a perceived bad one. People will just move on, saying "it's not THAT bad".

It is an interesting sociological experiment though. Can we access our feedback? I'd like to see what others think of my rambling. Or, like being able to read minds, maybe this would be a curse.

In all and being at the bottom of the well, I'm not in favor of the squares.

So I gotta ask...does anyone feel dirty about rating someone in a thread ABOUT ratings, when they are talking about disliking the idea of being rated? :D

As opposed to publishing it in a public review - I mean forum... Ah, you begin to see the fine line we walk every day... :)

Mule, that is an outstanding point. Newbies seeing all these green Christmas chiclets across the bottom of one's name will definitely put pressure on the verbage and intelligence of each poster.

Take, thanks for the kind words. Another green chiclet for you. :) I'm really not all that knowledgable on this stuff. Most of it comes from all the mistakes I've made over the years. I'm no where near the level of WmAx or some of the moderators when it comes to numbers and in depth reviews, but I'll do the research when someone asks a question to find a satisfactory answer. I'll also do my best to find the best bang for your buck, as I know everyone works hard for their money.

IMHO, this forum and site has really taken off the past two years, based on the threads, posts, and members. We've got a much more mature, knowledgable audience than some other forums, and it shows. I think this will only aide in being able to get more equipment in for reviews, and increase the advertising dollars needed to keep this ship afloat.

Maturity is a state of mind, not necessarily a result of age. Hell, I'm only 18...so ...so there!

Click on your "User CP" and it should show you all your feedback and comments - anonymous, though.
