Simple fact is, the joke was weak IMHO, but he's a comic. His job is to be funny. Sometimes it's at someone else's expense. Don't get in front of a comic if you can't take a joke.

At the same time, Will could have easily just heckled him with "BOOOO. LAME JOKE. GET OFF THE STAGE" and it would have been fantastic.

from what I've read the Oscar show has been falling in ratings and viewership year by year, so they came up with this staged piece to create "controversy". They (The so-called Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences) want to push the narrative that blacks now dominate the industry because many moons ago hardly any negro won a participation trophy.

I just caught a headline saying Will's been banned from the Oscars and other academy events for ten years.
