I like most finishes but especially either a cherry or maple with the poly seal. I like when the finishes are extremely elegant and sophisticated.

A nice black finish as it seems to go with almost everything making it easier to incorporate the speaker into an existing room. The type of black, be it black oak, matte black, piano black, or whatever isn't quite as important but I am a bit partial to a black oak finish, although most will work fine for almost every room.

Its always been black......kind of the default setting for speaker color.

I like natural wood veneer, or at least good vinyl faux-wood, as opposed to painted/modern finishes. The shade/finish would depend on the room colors.

My choice for speakers finishes is a wood/faux wood finish that blends in well with the rest of the room.

Speaker Finish

I think it depends upon the wooden veneer that is chosen to surround the enclosures. Obviously, the type of wooden veener dictates what type of finish should be used.

I prefer dark woods, often with rich grains, rosewood, cherry, mahogany. But, if the veneer is from a light wood, such as beech, oak or maple, then a light finish would be preferrable.

Of course, Black, and a gloss piano black, is always provides a wonderful appearance, so one can't go wrong with that, since it seems to blend in to almost any decor.

Textured Black most definatly. I am not big on the gloss look in the least.

I like wood grain finishes the best. Darker ones in particular. I'm not a big fan of the lighter colors like beechwood and darker ones like matte black unless glossy I think look sort of tacky. However right now my entire current system is in matte black :D .... But I prefer a natural wood color and look of the darker nature. Basically anything cherry and darker.

A shiny or Glossy black is perfect. It is easy to match with other audio/visual components. It also looks really good with almost any type of furniture.

I like matte black, followed by cherry-wood. I'm a big fan of substance over form. If they look good and sound bad, they are not good speakers! They're good accessories!

Give me unobtrusive speakers that blend into the furnishings and sound great EVERY time!

favorite finish

i love the standard satin rosewood finish. the satin black is nice too. i know that the piano glossy is a more expensive finish, but it shows dust and fingerprints all too well.

thx

I like darker woodgrain finishes. Walnut and Ebony are my favorites. They have such rich color and the look of that natural wood grain makes for an interesting piece to add to any room. I have also always enjoyed Piano gloss mixed in with wood finishes. Very sharp contrast there, it makes for a beautiful combination.

I love speakers that look like they are made of real wood, a dark walnut is the best.

Piano black is always a good choice, always fits in. However, given the choice I prefer a rich wood finish with deep grain. A dark Cherry or a rich Golden Oak would probably be my first choice.

I have all black speakers now because it was the only way they came. It's "ok", they do go with anything. But I'd rather have a dark wood grain like Rosewood or cheery for next time.

Gloss black, then natural figured maple, then natural american cherry.

Then there's the problem of grill cloth too..

Black, because it tends to blend well in multiple environments. It does not stand out or draw attention to itself.

I like an Oak finish. It has a classical look, that's strong and durable.

Contest Question: What is your favorite finish on a loudspeaker and why?

I am a real fan of the Rosewood Rockests that I have. Although I haven't seen them in person, the nicest finish I have seen are the BEM ones on the REF 3's.
