Our only large format screen was just a few blocks from my work, but they tore it down about 10 years ago to put in a new ride a the theme park. The ones that are left are domes, maybe 3 or 4 in the area.

I just re-watched the Northman. Such a great movie!
I am in the process of re-watching The Northman. I think the main reason I hated it the FIRST time around was because I didn't understand it.

For example, why didn't Amleth just bring all of his Berserkers to kill Fjolnir and his men on the farm? That would have been a lot easier than pretending to be a slave and trying to avenge all by himself. But from what I read, he had to do it alone because it was prophesied - it was said in the beginning and in the middle that he could not escape his destiny - the prophecy.

I also didn't understand that king Aurvandil raped Gudrun (a slave), and Amleth was conceived from this rape. And that Gudrun actually hated both Aurvandil and Amleth and wanted both of them dead - thus plotting with Fjolnir to kill both Aurvandil and Amleth.

So now that I understand the plot, I can enjoy it a lot more.

The picture quality looks great, and the sound quality is also great. I heard some good overhead sound effects. Overall very solid sound quality.

NEXT next lol.

I love Vampires - Check (Nosferatu 2024)
Werewolves - Check (Werwulf 2026)
Witches - Check (The Witch 2015)
Vikings and the Norse gods- Check (The Northman)
Greek gods - Check (The Lighthouse, which is supposed to reference Prometheus and Proteus)

I never saw "Labyrinth", but I heard that it's a Musical Fantasy movie, and I usually hate musicals. So not so sure about a musical sequel. :D

Christopher Nolan is doing "The Odyssey". Hopefully he keeps the Greek gods like Homer did.

Wolfgang Petersen did "Troy" (based on The Iliad"), but I didn't like it because he completely removed the Greek gods.

Maybe Robert Eggers can do "The Iliad" and keep the Greek gods, like how he kept Odin/Valkyrie/Valhalla in "The Northman" and Prometheus and Proteus in "The Lighthouse".

Labyrinth was Jim Henson. Music by David Bowie, but it is a bit dated now lol. So yes, a bit of a musical, but not a Disney like musical. I like that movie.

Lighthouse was a pretty nuts. The performances are good, but it is just the two of them in the lighthouse the whole time, as they descend into the craziness.

Bowie as a villian/antagonist and a very young Jennifer Conelly as the heroin - along with a whole bunch of henson muppet-style characters. It's good, but it's definitely aimed at a younger/teen audience of the time. It has been a while since I've watched it, but I don't recall it being a full musical - more just some musical interludes spread out along the way.

The premise is along the lines of the goblin king (Bowie) steals a baby under the care of Conelly (sister or babysitter) after she has a callous thought/episode in frustration with the caring role. Out of guilt and remorse, she follows into the fantasy world to try and retrieve and save the child. Fantastic adventure ensues.

There is a 4k UHD of it out there.

The Labyrinth and the Dark Crystal are crazy ass movies. Haha. I remember watching them as a kid. Then throw in the The Never ending Story. I feel like a lot of "kids" movies back in the late 80's early 90's used a lot puppets. You won't see that kind of stuff made today. That's for sure.

Lighthouse was crazy good. I loved that Eggers used vintage lenses on the camera and went black and white for picture. While using a 1.19:1 aspect ratio. To give the viewers a sense of confinement. :)

Well, knowing that Robert Eggers will be writing and directing the Labyrinth sequel, it has to be good.

Looks like his 2026 "Werwulf" movie will be set in the Medieval period of 13th century. Nice. I love these periods.

Labyrinth 4k is the best that one has ever looked, but it is not perfect. No doubt that is just because the master is like that, so it is true to the source. The new Atmos track is pretty good improvement though.

Dark Crystal 4K though, the video is a vast improvement and the Atmos track is pretty impressive for a film this old.

I purchased both a couple years ago, but haven’t watched yet. They’re on my long ass list of 4k’s to watch.:D
