if this comes out on HD right here right now. I'm jumping in the HD bandwagon.

The film was very soft (could have been that massive screen), there was absolutely no bass, and although I did notice some surround sound, it was strictly behind us...... I'm not sure to blame the local theater, or the film/transfer itself.
No bass at my theater either... I was blaming the cinema itself, not the film.

Same here. Although, I thought the theater had no bas during the demonstration of IMAX, so I think it was the theaters fault. I'm going to double dip this one at a local theater and see if there is more bass.

I thought the video side of the movie was fine though..

I want to see this so bad. But my schedule hasn't let me get out to see it. I want to catch it in IMAX before it goes, but if it has to be a home theatre only event, so be it.

I saw it in IMAX today, OMG did this film rock! I'm going to purchase the soundtrack on Itunes tomorrow.

As far as the bass, definitely not as earth shattering as LOTR:ROTK or King Kong, but no slouch nonetheless. The color palette and CGI was mesmerizing to watch. I cant wait for the DVD release of this film.

I saw it in IMAX, too, and it was visually amazing! Definitely worth checking out while it's still on the big screen if you have IMAX in your area. I don't recall the bass being as noticeable as in LotR or Gladiator, but it was definitely there.

Wow. Just, wow.

That bit where one of the warriors faced down the charging rhino... wow.

Loved the acting too. And (dur) the special effects. I read a blogpost describing how they made it.. pretty much all the backgrounds were artificial, and the entire film was shot in a blue room.

wow.

Who's buying? I know I am. Hopefully the new surrounds will be in place tomorrow so I can finally have a matching system again.

I'm going to get it. I loved the movie. One giant Fight Scene!

Plus, its coming out in Blu-Ray and HD-DVD formats. Now I can stay on the fence a little while longer. Now if they would issue the LOTR Trilogy in one format, that's when I would decide.

Ok so I have it, and there is some bass. I haven't seen all of it yet (had to go to work) but tomorrow I will run it full tilt front to back.

Complaints: Picture looks a little grainy. Haven't listened hard enough to look for surround usage.

Surround was a little weak, I also thought the bass was "eh" .

I really liked the movie though. Saw it for the first time last night.

I just picked it up on the way into work. I'll watch it tonight after I tuck in the rest of the family.

I originally saw in in IMAX. Huge screen, huge sound, so I already now the theatre won't match my experience. The movie still rocked though.

Really? My IMAX experience for this movie BLEW. Must've been where I was sitting, because I didn't hear ANY bass.

Yeah, I saw it at the IMAX too and wasn't too thrilled. I could have easily spent 15 bucks on something else.

Dude you hit the nail on the head! The pic is flat out grainy, and was not as impressive as I thougt it was going to be. I must say that it was not as good as I remembered it in IMAX. Still it's a very cool flick, but I was expecting more. I loved the part with the elephants though that was baddaass!
