3 subs?

Listening to Gene's excellent videos on room acoustics and bass, it seems like 1, 2, or 4 subs are discussed, whereas a 3 sub setup is overlooked/bypassed. Is there any reason that 3 subs may be SUB-optimal?

If not, what is the best placement for 3?
A triangle?

I'd take 3 subs over 1 or 2 subs...

very interesting.
it is interesting to see a different perspective: NON-symmetrical sub placement, instead of 1 in each corner, or a perfect triangle. It makes sense.

Still, it will vary somewhat with specific room...

I’m curious were you found that information that 3 subs isn’t optimal. I’m using 1 sub in bedroom and duel 10” basic subs downstairs. I can only dream of fitting all 3 in the same room. The result would be superior .

I use three subs in my main system. As mentioned, placement is very room/LP specific. Absolutely nothing wrong with three subs. Been working for me.

I use 3 subs in my greatroom which is a very difficult room to place a 4th sub.
