2 JL audio Fathoms gone. Not Happy

I need help, does anyone know if there is someway of getting these subs to power on. They were left on Auto today and suddenly we experienced a quick brownout.I've tried different power points nothing. I went to the HT to make sure everything is working and guess what everything works but not the 2 JL audio Fathoms 112.I can't beleive this that 2 subs are know not working. I never had this problem with my focal subs but know this has become a problem. Is there any tips guys to get this going? These subs cost me $11000AUS and I feel very upset and mad that these subs were mean'tt to be of the highest quality and know they don't work.

Sounds like you tripped the circuit on the wall outlet. Check the circuit breaker. If this is the case, you may need a new dedicated outlet and 20Amp circuit installed.

I've tried different power outlets that work around the house, and still nothing.

I did have them connected as master and slave. But I actually had the connected on a power conditioner which also is a surge protector. Any idea will help.

JL has tech support for this sort of thing. You did buy from an authorized dealer, right?

Of course I did. I don't believe in Ebay none of that especially when your spending that kind of cash.

My only guess is that the sub amps were not provided enough power from the surge protector. Most subs/amps say to connect directly to the wall outlet, and in the case of using two of these, I am fairly certain JL would recommend they be on a 20amp dedicated circuit. I don't fault JL. They should warranty without any issues.

I've neve had a problem with my focal subs at all and to me this is riduclous that two subs are know dead.

I don't think Focal makes subs that require the amount of current needed by the JL's.

So because they did not have enough current through the powewr conditioner there fried?

I am not sure who you are mad at? If it is Fathom I don't see why they are at fault. You said you had a brownout so it could have been the surge protector that failed to do it's job. And as stated Fathom will fix it if it is indeed their product at fault. Also what kind of surge protecteor did you use, if that failed to do it's job and Fathom say's that was the problem then most quality protectors would cover damage up to a certain amount. Things happen but you do have options.

it's actually a $1500 power condtioner with a built in surge protector that can handle 3000VA. The Subs were plugged to the unit and some BD players. The BD players work fine. I don't want to be rude but of course im angry I have not had these subs for very long. Maybe $11000AUD is nothing to you but it certainly is to me, why do you thing im angry.

Your not being rude and I understand why you are upset but you know things do happen. All I meant was that these things do happen and you have options. I don't like it when things break and I don't have alot of money so 1100 bucks is alot to me but it would be much worse if you didn't have a way to get them fixed under warranty.

Sorry buddy it's not $1100 but $11000 for the 2. At that price I hate having to get them fixed I prefer them to swap but highely unlikey. Does anyone if its a fuse or an internal reset switch?

Sorry mate just fustrated, but anyway thanks for you help. Im just going to have to wait till tomorrow.Once there fixed im going to buy an online UPS for them.

These things always seem to happen on weekends, don’t they. OK Frank, take a breath. Assuming you haven’t already heard from your Dealer how about back to basics.

Power off (front switch) and remove the power cords from the Fathoms. Switch the Master Slave switch on each unit Slave becomes Master. Check the grounding switch to make sure it isn’t between positions. Now connect the Fathoms so that the Slave unit is now the Master and vice-versa. Reconnect the power cord but go directly to the wall outlet, not the Power Conditioner. Try to power up just the Master sub (used to be the Slave) first. If you get lights, use the demo button on the new Master sub. If no lights and they are still dead, I’m afraid you are in for repair or replacement.
Power spikes can damage any electronics.
