Rain here in central Mass is just about over and the wind has died down too. Not as bad as the media hyped it up to be thank God.

From the looks of the radar shots, everything south of the eye is nothing. All the fury was in the leading edge. It's a bit windy right now but the rain stopped about two hours ago.

The cellar took in a bit of water but that's not unusual with heavy rains, and this was a lot heavier than usual.
The build up when the center of the storm was still 200 miles away was pretty alarming - pretty gusty, lots 'n' lots of rain...but, big overture, little show, at least in my Queens neighborhood. Lots of loose branches scattered around my street, but no visible major damage. Have heard quite a few emergency vehicles about, and seen some pictures of fallen trees and flooded low lying area.

I slept through the worst of it, actually.

We got 4-4.5" of rain. Lots of wind. (mostly from midnight through 4am) a few leaks in the basement (unfinished). Not bad.

Went over to the mother-in-law's to pump 8-10inches out of their basement.

Glad to hear it was pretty much uneventful for the AHer's that have checked in.

I was only on the outer fringes of the storm. Plenty of rain & wind, but not more than about 40 mph. Lots of scattered wet leaves stuck everywhere. I did see one tree down the street broken off in the middle of its trunk. It was a maple, about 8-10" thick. Most important, my power stayed on :).

Anyone heard from sawz? He might be busy taking down plywood from lots of windows.

The eye of this storm is so large than in fact the part 2 will come only in few hours, but will be limited to 40mph winds...

Hello AH , we made it through with minimal damage, mostly trees and such.
I couldnt keep ya posted since I lost electric and internet at around 6 pm yesterday and it just came back about an hour ago, I know, "what took me so long" ha ha.
Well we really lucked out mostly rain and normal tropical noreaster wind, some stronger gusts that wiped out a lot of smaller sheds and screen porches but I dont see any damage to any homes that is of any real significance.
The back bays look like out front on the Beach choppy with waves, and I am on my way to the Beach front now to see these monster waves, I will get a few pics for those interested, I am glad we and everyone has made out OK so far, later, sawz.

See, that's why you should have a 3G or 4G smart phone...

And if cell service goes down, you can fire up the beacons so that other audioholics can spread the word.

:D

Glad that you're all okay!

For the past two days, the first part of the scene has been going through my head every time that I see "Irene." :)

Haha - awesome! :)

Btw, looks like you'd benefit from Adblock Plus, if that's Firefox that you're using.

Here is out front a little while ago:

Somehow, I'm thinkin that with all the gingerbread houses there, you're gonna be pretty busy for a while.

Hey, ya gotta make hay while the sun shines, or something like that.

Glad y'all survived.

I guess Hypicane Irene didn't get the memo. Seems like the storm didn't exactly deliver what the media promised.

I figured that they were one of the few unfortunate victims of the storm, and that's why his arms are outstretched...someone needs a hug. :p
