For a beginner, a sealed design is not a good way to start, as you need Eq to boost below Fs and high pass at Fs, and that is complicated for a beginer.

I thought that sealed designs were easier than ported ones and pretty straight forward.

That is what a lot of people think, but they could not be more wrong. The box may be simpler, but successful implementation is much more difficult. You have to get the Eq boost below F3 right and then high pass it before xmax to prevent driver damage. They also take a lot more power because of the Eq boost. A sealed design is much easier for the beginner to get right. I think ported also sound better myself.

Ah yes exactly. That's what I've heard, that the box itself is simpler to built.
