Wep, just got my PowerColor Radeon HD5450 card yesterday, but have not installed it yet until I have more time later this week.
That's what I'm using, working quite well for me!Oh, and I'm also going to install the latest ATI drivers - version 10.2 (Feb 17, 2010).
Same for me too. That's what I'm using, working quite well for me!
But why, that's still not all that hot, and for what you will spend on the gpu cooler, you could have bought a higher end card with a fan. 50c is halfway between freezing and boiling, so I'd say that's a comfortable temp.I've installed my new HTPC2 with the ATI5450.
The PQ seems to be identical to the ATI5750.
The only difference I can tell is not in the PQ/SQ; rather it is the fact that my ATI5450 does NOT have a fan and so the GPU temp can get pretty hot (50c) compared to the ATI5750 (29c), which has a fan.
I'm thinking about getting a GPU cooler for my 5450.![]()
Yeah, you are right. But why, that's still not all that hot, and for what you will spend on the gpu cooler, you could have bought a higher end card with a fan. 50c is halfway between freezing and boiling, so I'd say that's a comfortable temp.
What if you already have BOTH?If I planned to game then the obvious choice is the 4850, otherwise I'd save money and get the less expensive, cooler running, less power drawing 5450.
Yeah, that's what I'm thinking too.Since I don't do any gaming on my PCs, and I'm all about bitstreaming, I'd go with the 5450.
It will technically "work", meaning you should get video/audio, but if you specifically purchased the HD5450 for bitstreaming HD codecs to your receiver you're out of luck, you need windows 7 in order to do that.Hi,
I'm planning to buy a HD5450 for my HTPC.
My AVR is a Sony 6400ES and I'm running XP on my HTPC.
Will that work with PowerDVD and TMT?
Thanks for your help.

Thanks, yes that's what I want to do, so I have to upgrade my XP.It will technically "work", meaning you should get video/audio, but if you specifically purchased the HD5450 for bitstreaming HD codecs to your receiver you're out of luck, you need windows 7 in order to do that.
What exactly are you looking to do?
Here's all the info you'll need. Thanks, yes that's what I want to do, so I have to upgrade my XP.
Shouldn't be a problem.
And for the Sony receiver I need this file, but where can I get this.

Thanks again, but now I'm even more confused.
You should try this one. It says it's for Sony LCD TV's and Sony receivers. Thanks again, but now I'm even more confused.
My combination is Sony AVR STR-DA6400ES and the LCD is a Sony KDL-52X3500
So, what do I have to do, in the list in this thread you mentioned is nothing about that combination.
Maybe you can help me again.
