Did the inserts fly all over inside the box and ding up the baskets on those drivers or am I the only one who's been fortunate enough to have that happen everytime I got one

Its near ready for paint. It would be but rain decided to stop me while I was sanding some Bondo today.

I noticed the your router edges are still soaking up paint. That is one of the pains of MDF. I have searched for quite some time, but I have found a great sealer for MDF. It's called BIN. I know you are familiar with it considering your former employer. Get the spray can version for ease of use. One coat on the edges and it will sand very nicely. Hope all is well!

It is nice to work outside, but it would be nicer to have more than a 3' x 10' space .

Thanks for the tip! The primer actually acted as a sealant for the soaking of the MDF, so after I sand and starting painting black there will be no issues .

That's good. It seems like I always had to put quite a few coats of primer on the edges until I found this stuff.

Anyway, the build is looking good. I have the tools and the shop, but no time. Sounds like we both have our issues.

I'm pretty sure there are just a few of us on the forums late at night. They have bedtimes.

Texture is going down. The white specks will be painted black shortly. Otherwise this is the final look.

I like that efffect. It makes the box look bullet proof. In all black it'll look even better.

I have actually convinced Mike to go with the white/black combo because it looks great in person. I don't think solid black will look better, obviously .

I do not think the solid black looks as good either. Speaking from personal experience anyway...

As I was spraying the box I didn't like the stone style look, but once the box was complete I realized how well the white accents the black. Once I got to this point I just didn't want to ruin the nice finish by painting it all black. Glad Mike agreed .

That is essentially what happened to me also.

I also don't like flat finished speaker boxes because if you stack they slide. He is going to put his center channel on this, so, it's nice to have some texture. It also hides scuffs and dust a bit.
