I was talking to a guy several months ago about football and he said he didn't like Kansas City. Eventually, he admitted in so many words that he didn't like them because Kelce was seeing Taylor Swift and she's too liberal.

It seems odd to me that almost everything has become us vs them based on politics. Granted, I'm extrapolating, but I can't image having this type of conversation 10+ years ago.

How would you rehabilitate someone like that?

I tend to think MAGA is a cult and therefore feelings based. In terms of dollar amount I'd agree BLM, Antifa are worse. (Though I do believe they are finished doing their destruction LOL.) My experience was that in the past the right would call the left looney and accuse them of being feelings oriented and snowflakes. It was ironic considering the right ended up being the very thing they accused the left of during the Trump years.

The traditional "Right" was (is) conservative... ie: prefering status quo, steady as she goes policies etc...

MAGA is not conservative "Right", it isn't conservative, it is reactionary/revolutionary... right wing statist / authoritarian. No sign in Maga world of reducing government, quite the contrary, all the policies are focused on centralising power, moving control from states to federal, from congress to executive...
centralised government. Traditional "right" policies, consistently accused the left and "socialists" of seeking to centralise power - tarring it as negative - Maga is intentionally centralising power/government, doing exactly what the "right" always accused the left of doing.

Maga has appropriated the language of the right, while discarding pretty much all of the rights policies, and philosophies.

I'm not convinced you can call Maga a traditional right wing movement - fascist yes, democratic right, no.
Yes look up fascist... look up fascist economic and social policies... Maga most resembles fascism, in policies, governance, attitudes, philosophy/ideology.

I keep telling myself I've seen it all now. Nothing about Trump can shock me anymore. Except this part with Kimmel (and believed to be why his show is suspended). Here's Trump and the Republicans using Kirk's death. Yet when Trump is asked how he's holding up after Kirk's death, he says he's doing good and immediately pivots to his ballroom under construction LOL. I remember one of his brothers death, and all Trump did was talk of how he wasn't "a winner" and made the speech about himself. I'd have to look into if he didn't attend his brother's funeral.
