Some words regarding Neal Young removing his music from Spotify.

Omfg. What do I tell my conspiracy theory friend now that his mother is in the hospital with blood clots, they won't let her call out and they won't let him go see her.

He's telling me, right now, that the hospital makes money if they follow "covid protocol" and she dies. I'm so fucking frustrated, and he's hitting me with all kinds of crazy poop right now.

If you haven't seen this movie, do so at soon as you can. Makes you think about the future a bit.

I have seen most of it. Far too accurate.

"Brawndo, now with batteries!". Sorry, that's AQ- Brawndo has electrolytes.

In the article above I saw the following. This is what Spotify payed $100 million for?

>>>
A February 2019 Twitter thread shows video of Rogan talking about seeing a Planet of the Apes film in a movie theater populated primarily by non-white people. "We walk into Planet of the Apes. We walked into Africa, dude. We walked in the door and there was no white people, there was no white people," he said.

In another clip, Rogan spoke to a guest who has parents of different skin colors. "Powerful combination, genetic-wise, right?" Rogan said. "You get the body of the black man and then you get the mind of the white man all together in some strange combination... that doesn't, by the way, mean that black people don't have brains. It's a different brain. Don't get me wrong."

That's not far from what caused Jimmy The Greek to be fired.

Why the hell won't they let her call out? That's ridiculous!

Most media (streaming) companies would sell their souls for 10 M users. Their CFO has stated they want to get to 1 billion users. Podcasting is a big part of their strategy to get there.
Must admit giving Harry & Meghan $25M will not get them there.
10 million users? YouTube has people posting videos with over a million followers but they clamp down on comments that don't meet their guidelines, so I doubt Rogan's comments that were removed would make it through the censors.

My comment is as you know a lyric from the song Sweet Home Alabama performed by Lynard Skynyrd, which is a rebuttal to Southern Man, a song from Neil Young that vilifies Southern Culture. In other words, Neil Young has perceptions about the way things ought to be that are in conflict with the way others think the way things ought to be. And, when there are sides to any issue, where sides each STAND for a belief, there is bound to be conflict and this conflict may or may not be settled by persuasion. In this case, my impression is Neil Young believes Spotify is propagating misinformation which he does not want to support, while others believe Spotify is propagating opinion. My position is debate on divergent beliefs should be fostered since it is what has made America great, thus I support media which present all manner of views on topics that effect my pursuit of happiness.
Did you know that Young and Skynyrd didn't actually have a beef and were friendly toward each other?

I should have written out 10,000,000. Hard to compare Spotify to YouTube on censorship as of now. Since YouTube operates under the Google umbrella, their censor activities have a longer record and reflect Google's worldview. As for Spotify, the guys that run it have censored stuff on that platform before. Hell they went after the Stone Roses last year for their condemnation of lockdowns as misinformation. Being a non US company, I had hoped Spotify would have risen above Cancel culture, but it's really a world wide pheno...

Totally agree. When I posted his explanation/apology, I was thinking that yes, it is important to hear straight from the person (others would rather hear someone else's "interpretation" or "fact check" - it happens constantly on these pages) but at the same time I was saying "Don't apologise - it will only make things worse!" Apologies are blood in the water for the demented sharks.

Tim Pool and guests had an interesting discussion of what may be going on with the deletions:
He represents thought being asked by questions.

I think that's kind of the problem with conservative media. They don't have ideas or solutions.(Not that the left does a ton of that either.). He just has conspiracy-driven hosts on like Alex Jones or Dr. Malone. He's just asking questions. I don't think he should be taken down, but it's kinda like saying we should have a right to our conspiracy-driven agenda but when you highlight our conspiracy-driven agenda, well how dare you!

Again, straight from the horse's ("paste" pun intended) mouth:

That's one of the better responses I have seen on this subject.

Relooked at the numbers. He has around 11 million listening to each podcast, 190 million download his podcast each month. If I could pass him some advice, I would direct him to look at another media career that he might relate to. You can guess the name but the perspective comes from someone with similar experiences over a +30 year career and an audience of 43 million listeners every day. Those are some numbers right. At the risk of certain people's heads exploding, I am speaking from a purely business point of view, nothing to do with ideology.

I will paraphrase the advice, hat tip to T OBrien:
JR you should just focus on your audience to the exclusion of all else. If you are fortunate enough to create a genuine bond with millions of loyal listeners, you need to find a way to be the only person who can break that bond. And it starts with not giving one person or one entity business control over the off switch.

I guess his best bet is to become a televangelist if he wants a truly loyal following. Plus, he could receive donations!o_O

I wonder who that could have been...

I have a good friend just like that. And when I mean conspiracy friend I mean he looooves his conspiracies. So you can only imagine what Covid and politics have given him to run with the last 2 years. He's like in conspiracy heaven

But he also has a heart of gold and would give a person the shirt off his back. Really funny and has an eccentric but brilliant mind. And that's why he's my friend. And I wouldn't have him any other way for all the world

But your friend is in pain right now worried about his mom and when we are in pain and stress and fear sometimes our quirks and behaviours and Coping skills get amplified both the good ones the bad ones and the quirky ones. Just love him and be there bro it's all you can do. Just let him know when he goes off on one of his tangents hey I'm sorry I can't control any of that. But I'm here for you and your mom if you need me your not alone. Encourage him to stay calm and focused because if he gets to upset its not helping him or his mom and remind him that's not what his mom would want.

I'm sorry to hear about your friends mom and I hope she pulls through

Ask him to explain his position, logically.

You think I haven't?

He's already made up his mind, it doesn't matter what trail of logic someone might try to lay out now, he ain't hearing it. I would (and have before) just stop talking to him but we've known each other and been good friends for a very long time. I felt like I was getting somewhere with him then this happened and now we're right back to square 1. Pft. Square zero now. It's so frustrating.
