Lake Nyos in Camaroon - fascinating stuff.
It's beautiful.

Though not completely unprecedented, it was the first known large-scale asphyxiation caused by a natural event.
And to @highfigh's point about rain forests, of course all trees and plants along with algae process CO2 to fuel photosynthesis and release O2 back into the atmosphere. Rain forests are getting destroyed at an alarming rate.

That's a whole 'nother ball of wax tho and again, like you said, I'm not an expert. I don't know enough to die on any hills over it, but the evidence points to something pretty scary if we don't come together and work toward a solution.
It is very complex for sure. I read an article once saying that in Northern Latitudes, the species of trees that are indigenous there, emit Methane from their tree trunks, while taking in CO2 in from their leaves or needles(if pines).
Crazy right, nature offsetting itself. Very complex....

Well... air currents, warm air interacting with cold air... it gets spread throughout the atmosphere. Like gases and ash from volcanic eruptions. They spread and cover the entire planet. Big eruptions can and have caused global winters that last for decades.
Still doesn't go very high since the upper atmosphere is very cold.

The reports I saw indicated that the Tonga volcano would decrease the global temperature by itself- Pinatubo dropped it for two years and last year, 52 volcanoes were active at the same time/

Since the bark is dead, it would rot, so yes, it can emit Methane. I wonder if the Methane they were sensing was from rotting vegetation and small animals under the trees. Rot occurs on every living thing, animal, vegetable......

I think it's great that people stand up for what they believe. We should all do that. I try and do this all the time.

For instance, I saw a local business owner, a fairly good size business, on the news. I was floored about what he had to say about something he, his business, had done (nothing about covid or current politics). Now I won't support his business. IMO, I'm saddened that most people didn't like what his business did but will keep supporting him because of "convenience."
In the area where I grew up, we had a small strip mall (before they were called 'strip malls') that included a dry cleaner. As it turns out, they would take buckets of the used solvent and dump it behind the building. Behind that building was a RR line with a raised bed and to the North of that was a small swamp, which was the remnants of the large swamp that was filled in to create the subdivision a long time ago. Under the soil is clay, sand, gravel and the water table for wells wasn't very deep. When I was a kid, the city installed water lines and a filtration plant- to me, it seemed sudden, but I was young, so I wouldn't have heard about it as I would if I were older at that time.

Thinking about that time, it occurred to me that an inordinate number of people from that neighborhood had suffered or dies from Cancer. When I counted the cases for both sides of one half of the block where we lived, (both sides) as well as one half of the block across the alley (one side), the total was 27 people, 18 homes. One whole family of four died from Cancer and in a few homes, both parents died from it. Obviously, this was a long time ago and I know that many of them smoked, some used hazardous chemicals, etc, but not all.

I called the Water Department and I was told that they have no information about this.

People could slow their reproduction, but that doesn't happen unless the ones slowing down are so f&cking intelligent that they decide "they're doing it for the planet", which results in unforeseen problems in other areas. Aside from not having much else to do, why do people who have nothing but dirt need to produce so many children? Do they not see it as a problem that they can't solve? They can't feed, clothe, house, educate or provide medical care, but they sure can pound out the kids.

Again with the 'dying on a hill' reference? You fall on that sword, mister!

If you haven't seen this movie, do so at soon as you can. Makes you think about the future a bit.

In the article above I saw the following. This is what Spotify payed $100 million for?

>>>
A February 2019 Twitter thread shows video of Rogan talking about seeing a Planet of the Apes film in a movie theater populated primarily by non-white people. "We walk into Planet of the Apes. We walked into Africa, dude. We walked in the door and there was no white people, there was no white people," he said.

In another clip, Rogan spoke to a guest who has parents of different skin colors. "Powerful combination, genetic-wise, right?" Rogan said. "You get the body of the black man and then you get the mind of the white man all together in some strange combination... that doesn't, by the way, mean that black people don't have brains. It's a different brain. Don't get me wrong."

Most media (streaming) companies would sell their souls for 10 M users. Their CFO has stated they want to get to 1 billion users. Podcasting is a big part of their strategy to get there.
Must admit giving Harry & Meghan $25M will not get them there.

My comment is as you know a lyric from the song Sweet Home Alabama performed by Lynard Skynyrd, which is a rebuttal to Southern Man, a song from Neil Young that vilifies Southern Culture. In other words, Neil Young has perceptions about the way things ought to be that are in conflict with the way others think things ought to be. And, when there are sides to any issue, where sides each STAND for a belief, there is bound to be conflict and this conflict may or may not be settled by persuasion. In this case, my impression is Neil Young believes Spotify is propagating misinformation which he does not want to support, while others believe Spotify is propagating opinion. My position is debate on divergent beliefs should be fostered since it is what has made America great, thus I support media which present all manner of views on topics that effect my pursuit of happiness.

Don't think any conservatives need to. There are tons of fighters and people of all races and backgrounds that know Rogan sticking up for him on Twitter and every other platform.

Anybody that has known him through the years is pretty adamant that the dude isn't racist.

I guarantee you if people wanted to they could take even every single one of us on this platform every person on this planet and find something to crucify you with. Everyone has done something stupid in there life.

Where I think Rogan screwed up is in apologizing at all. When he said he'd do a better job trying to get both sides on the platform for Covid. Did that make anyone happy? No

Once the cancel culture mob smelled that weakness they just piled on. Apologizing doesn't help you with them it just makes it worse.

One thing I have learned from watching the Cancel mob the last 2 years or 3 is never apologize to them never give an inch. Because they'll just use that inch to destroy you with it. Because that's really what they want. They don't want you to change at that point. They dont want redemption or forgiveness with you. They are out to destroy you.

If this was a fight they won't accept your surrender it's a fight to the death with them and that's exactly the way you have to look at it.

For some people nothing you can do will ever be good enough. Ever.

So why bother?

Its quiet obvious that the government and press and cancel mob and everyone else is going to take him down he's going down no matter what he does at this point. So if your going down anyway go out like a boss. Fu#$ em.

I don't think he should be canceled, and Spotify probably did a good thing for themselves by taking down 70 of his shows. Those race quotes don't shed a positive light on him. I think the lesson there is "don't go there." Plus his covid alternatives make certain for me I won't be tuning in. If people like Young and Mitchell can make their money elsewhere, well good for them.

Those quotes sure don’t look good for him, and that includes Spotify that bought the podcast for a very large sum of money.

Totally agree. When I posted his explanation/apology, I was thinking that yes, it is important to hear straight from the person (others would rather hear someone else's "interpretation" or "fact check" - it happens constantly on these pages) but at the same time I was saying "Don't apologise - it will only make things worse!" Apologies are blood in the water for the demented sharks.

Tim Pool and guests had an interesting discussion of what may be going on with the deletions:
