Anyone try amazon music to get their Atmos music working on the a8a? I gather A6A would be the same
Amazon Spatial Audio is only available on select devices which doesn't include Yamaha AVRs yet...

I am not familiar with your specific issue but one thought comes to mind. Have you checked your settings in the MusicCast app itself to see if something is turned off?
Thanks for the suggestion. I checked again, but didn't see any potential problem setting in the MusicCast app.

I asked Tidal about this and this and here's what they said. From there answer I think you need MQA to get Atmos.

Hello!

Thank you for contacting TIDAL. I'm Ty'Quasia and I'll be glad to assist you with using TIDAL and your subscription.

In the future, you can use the Yamaha MusicCast app to connect your Yamaha device to TIDAL, however MusicCast doesn't support MQA. I do apologize for this. I would suggest to reach out to Yamaha to request this feature as they manage and update the MusicCast app.

And this is from Yamaha support about Amazon Music: I have the A6A.

Thank you for contacting Yamaha Customer Support. Amazon HD music is supported on this receiver. However, none of our products can stream Amazon Ultra HD music. You may wish to use another device, like a laptop, to stream the Ultra HD audio and connect it to the receiver with an analog connection instead. Regarding your MQA support questions, I do not have any information regarding what will be supported in future firmware versions. I hope you find this information helpful. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Is it normal to get a slight pop sound from your speakers when turn the amp on, I get it on the second click of the relay switch?
You may want to check your HDMI Control settings. More than likely it's maybe your tv and or streaming device causing the issue.

Is there a way/setting I can use to switch from small speakers to large speakers when I listen to 2 channel music without having to go into the speaker settings every time? I do this to be able to take advantage of Extra Bass with Large speaker setting to get better subwoofer.

It's a well know bug for some and well documented when you use the search feature of this forum...
I'm not sure it's a common bug in my case because my last receiver (RX-V685) started doing this, part of the reason why I upgraded, now this seems to have the same issue, the longer it's left in standby the louder the pop once turned on.

Yeah that's what I thought, music cast isn't as good as using the firestick?

I figured it out... You can set up 2 different speaker patterns (Pattern 1 and Pattern 2) and then assign one of those Patterns to your scenes.

MusicCast doesn't get you the Ultra HD just HD...
HD tracks are 16-bit audio, with a minimum sample rate of 44.1 kHz (16/44.1 is also referred to as CD-quality), and an average bitrate of 850 kbps. Ultra HD tracks have a bit depth of 24 bits, with sample rates ranging from 44.1 kHz up to 192 kHz, and an average bitrate of 3730 kbps.

One of the easiest solutions for streaming music is Apple Music ($10/mo) on the Apple TV 4K which is good up to 48kHz. Only dogs and dolphins need 192kHz. LOL :)
